"Hole-in-the-Wall Lighthouse is located on the Southern tip of Great Abaco. It was erected in 1836 and is still active today. The name Hole-in-the-Wall referred to a limestone arch at landโ€™s end near the lighthouse. This lighthouse is one of the best examples of old-style British lighthouse architecture in the New World. It is not the first lighthouse built in the country, but it was the first to be built in The Bahamas by the Imperial Lighthouse Service. The red and white tower stands at 77 feet and 168 feet above sea level. As late as 1995, it was still fueled by kerosene and lit every night by resident keepers. The lighthouse was automated in 1995."

"One of the most notorious pirates in history is the infamous Blackbeard, who spent a lot of his career in Nassau during the Golden Age of Piracy. Today, visitors can climb a cut-stone tower believed to have been used by Blackbeard himself as a lookout spot. Dating back to the early 1700s, the tower is located about five miles east of Fort Montagu and is free to visit, providing terrific views of New Providence."

"The Police Barracks are situated in East Street on the site of the old Agricultural Gardens north of the prison. They are as nearly as possible a replica of the old Military Barracks north of Fleeming Square which were built of native stone and iron work and had wide verandahs flagged with Yorkshire stone, the material being saved when these Barracks were demolished in 1898 to give way to the Hotel Colonial. The Commandant's quarters, Sergeant Major's quarters and Guard Room are in the same grounds."
