Only one aircraft from the Belgian Air Component was present at Fairford this year.

Here you see the FB-17 departing back home on monday, and there is only one pilot who has this color of helmet visor (🐍) in Belgium. (Fairford 2024)..

Dream Viper family,

With a heavy heart, we bring you unexpected news: the F-16 Solo Display Team is reluctantly bidding farewell. Regrettably, we must announce the bittersweet conclusion of our incredible two-year journey.

In 2024 we intended to celebrate 50 years of F-16, 45 of F-16 in Belgium, and 30 of those with Cdt De Vries at the throttle and stick of the Viper.

It's important to note that the decision for this farewell is beyond the control of the Dream Viper Team. While the ending may be sudden, the memories and appreciation for your support will endure. We thank you for being a part of our incredible flight, we regret not having the chance to say goodbye to our magnificent audience in person.

[NL] Na een prachtig seizoen in 2023 zullen we de 🇧🇪“F-16 Solo Display” in 2024 niet verlengen. We zijn namelijk actief begonnen met onze overgang naar de F-35, onze F-16's worden geleidelijk uit dienst genomen omdat ze het einde van hun potentieel bereiken en onze recente bijdrage aan de opleiding van Oekraïense piloten vergt bovendien het grootste deel van onze middelen. We geven de prioriteit aan de training van onze gevechtspiloten, het nakomen van onze operationele verplichtingen en het maken van de overgang naar de F-35A.
We zijn zeer dankbaar voor het werk van onze laatste F-16 demonstratiepiloot, Commandant vlieger Steven 'Vrieske' De Vries. De afgelopen twee seizoenen was hij met zijn “Dream Viper” een fantastische ambassadeur voor de Luchtmacht.

[FR] Après une magnifique saison en 2023, nous ne prolongerons pas le « F-16 solo display » 🇧🇪 en 2024. Nous avons en effet activement entamé notre transition vers le F-35, nos F-16 sont graduellement retirés d’emploi lorsqu’ils atteignent la fin de leur potentiel et notre récente contribution à la formation des pilotes ukrainiens mobilisent la plupart nos moyens. La priorité porte sur l’entrainement de nos pilotes de chasse, l’exécution de nos engagements opérationnels et la transition vers le F-35A.
Nous sommes extrêmement reconnaissants du travail accompli par le dernier pilote de démonstration F-16, le Commandant aviateur Steven "Vrieske" De Vries. Lors des deux dernières saisons, il a été un formidable ambassadeur de la Force aérienne avec son "Dream Viper".
