At Port-La Nouvelle, Euroports is not only supporting the energy transition through floating offshore wind. It has also become a leading player in the circular economy across the Mediterranean.

Every year, several hundred thousand tonnes of materials resulting from recycling, reuse and recovery pass through the port facilities operated by Euroports.

These include:

🔹 Shredded tires produced from end-of-life tires. This material is recycled and repurposed for a wide range of applications;

🔹 Recycled glass (cullet, raw glass and RFO), received at the port before being exported to processing facilities. These materials are used to manufacture new glass products while reducing the consumption of virgin raw materials and lowering the carbon footprint of the glass industry.

🔹 End-of-life wind turbine equipment, which is stored, prepared and shipped to new international markets. Some turbines are refurbished and given a second life, while their components are reused or recovered as part of a circular economy approach.

These activities are fully aligned with Euroports' strategy to develop more sustainable logistics chains, reduce the environmental impact of industrial supply chains and promote the large-scale reuse and recovery of valuable materials.

At the same time, Euroports operates the Wind Energy Terminal at Port-La Nouvelle, now recognized as a Mediterranean benchmark for the assembly and logistics of floating offshore wind turbines. The Group is also supporting the development of an innovative industrial ecosystem focused on offshore wind, green hydrogen and the energy solutions of tomorrow.

A circular economy is only as strong as the supply chain behind it.

For advanced plastic recycling to work at industrial scale, every link in the logistics chain must be reliable; from collecting and consolidating feedstock to maritime transport, terminal operations and final delivery to the recycling plant.

That's exactly the role Euroports is playing in the SynPet project.

Working closely with SynPet, we are developing an integrated logistics solution that connects our network across Europe :
• Consolidating plastic feedstock at our terminal in Port Marghera, Venice with an added value set up for wrapping plastic bales
• Organising the maritime transport to Antwerp ;
• Managing the terminal handling and logistics at our Antwerp terminal, supporting SynPet's circular plastics recycling facility.

Rather than managing individual transport legs, we're creating a seamless end-to-end logistics solution that gives SynPet a single logistics partner across multiple ports and countries.

Projects like these demonstrate how ports are evolving. Today's logistics providers don't just move cargo; they connect industrial ecosystems, enabling new circular supply chains that help valuable materials remain in use for longer.

Every year, millions of tonnes of ferrous scrap move through European ports. Most people never think about where it comes from or where it goes.

At our Porto Marghera (Venice) Terminal, recyclable metals are received, stored and prepared for their journey to steel mills across Italy and Central Europe, where they are used again as raw materials to produce new steel and metal products, keeping valuable resources in circulation instead of becoming waste.

Reducing industrial emissions requires more than carbon capture alone. It also requires the infrastructure to transport, handle and permanently store captured CO₂ safely and efficiently.

That is why we are pleased to announce that Euroports and Normod Carbon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore a strategic partnership for the development of CO₂ hub infrastructure across the Euroports network.

By combining Euroports' extensive port infrastructure and operational expertise with Normod Carbon's end-to-end carbon transport and storage capabilities, we will jointly assess opportunities to develop the next generation of carbon management hubs that can support industrial decarbonisation throughout Europe.

Ports have traditionally been associated with the movement of conventional raw materials and industrial products. Today, the range of cargo moving through our terminals is becoming increasingly diverse.

Across the Euroports network, we handle growing volumes of materials that are being recovered, reused or given a new purpose, including :

𑇐 End-of-life tyres destined for energy recovery
𑇐 Recovered glass and industrial by-products used in construction materials
𑇐 Other alternative feedstocks supporting more circular industrial processes

These are no longer niche cargo flows. They are becoming an integral part of Europe’s industrial supply chains as manufacturers reduce their reliance on first use raw materials, regulation accelerates the transition to circular production, and demand for secondary materials continues to grow.

Behind every circular material flow is a logistics chain that must operate safely, efficiently and reliably. This requires dedicated storage areas, specialised handling equipment, certified operational processes and close collaboration with industrial partners.

At Euroports, we are proud to play our part in enabling this transition.

Bringing Essentials to the World

The grain harvest is underway, marking one of the busiest and important periods of the year at the Port of Rostock and our grain terminal.

Over the coming weeks, hundreds of trucks will arrive at our facilities, delivering wheat, barley, rapeseed and other agricultural commodities from farms across the region. Every load is carefully received, sampled and stored in our silo facilities before continuing its journey to customers and markets around the world.

At Euroports Rostock, we are proud to contribute to this essential supply chain. Every cargo is different and must be handled according to its commodity, quality and intended use. Careful segregation and storage ensure that product characteristics and quality standards are maintained throughout the logistics chain.

From Rostock, these agricultural products are exported by sea to international markets, supplying food producers, feed manufacturers and industrial customers. Our dedicated grain facilities and high-performance ship loaders, each capable of handling more than 1,000 tonnes per hour, help ensure efficient, reliable and seamless cargo flows.

For our team at Euroports, harvest season means dedication, precision and excellent coordination – from the arrival of the first truck to the loading of ocean-going vessels.

We would like to sincerely thank our customers, partners and the agricultural community for their continued trust and cooperation. Shaping the Euroports Vision Zero QHSE Strategy 2026-2030

In early June, the team gathered at Euroports Port La Nouvelle (France) for an off-site workshop dedicated to defining our Vision Zero Strategy 2026–2030. Stepping away from daily operations allowed us to reflect, align, and strengthen our shared commitment to a proactive safety culture across all terminals.

During the sessions, we aligned on strategic objectives and discussed how to implement them consistently across countries. QHSE managers shared best practices and local challenges, enabling valuable cross-country learning and the identification of solutions that can be scaled across the organisation. We also explored potential digital tools and software solutions, assessing their capabilities and implementation requirements.

“Our goal remains to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, we emphasised, reinforcing a unified approach to Vision Zero. Beyond the workshop, a team-building activity strengthened trust and collaboration across our international QHSE community”, as highlighted by Ralf Butzlaff.

We concluded the event with a Safety Walk at Port-la-Nouvelle, where we visited the historic port, the new RoRo handling facilities, and the new liquid terminal. Seeing these operations firsthand provided valuable insights and reinforced the importance of integrating safety into every aspect of our activities.

The vessel, which berthed at P1 on 25 June carrying 36,000 m³ of diesel fuel, was successfully discharged thanks to the outstanding commitment and expertise of our operational teams.

This achievement represents a major step forward in the development of our liquid bulk activities and confirms our readiness to support new business opportunities.

Reaching this milestone is the result of several years of preparation, close collaboration, and extensive theoretical and practical training. Today, our operators are fully equipped to carry out these operations while meeting the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.

A special thank you also goes to our colleagues from Euroports Germany for their valuable on-site support and expertise throughout the project.
