🔷 The European Commission's proposal for a European Innovative Company (EU Inc.) is much more than another company law initiative.

The objective is not to replace national legal systems, but to complement them by creating optional European legal frameworks that companies can choose when operating across borders. Its purpose is not harmonisation for its own sake, but the gradual removal of internal barriers that continue to fragment the . EU Inc. is the first practical expression of this approach.

⚡ Energy storage is crucial infrastructure for a sovereign and affordable European Union.

Yet it requires a system capable of absorbing, transporting, storing and delivering it where and when it is needed. Storage is key: it turns variable generation into readily available power, curbs renewable energy curtailment, relieves grid congestion, smooths price fluctuations, lowers balancing costs and strengthens security of supply.

🌾 is essential because without it, there is no agriculture.

The 🇪🇺 Livestock Strategy will help strengthen the of the sector, but farmers need stable rules & long-term planning security to invest & innovate.

We also need a cooperative approach to sustainability. Progress on environment and animal welfare must be driven by incentives to support farmers to deliver better results.

In addition, the 🇪🇺 must promote Europe’s high-quality animal products, both at home, through clear origin labelling and globally through a dedicated animal protein export strategy to create new business opportunities for our farmers and enterprises.

🪖 Drones have changed the economics of warfare: multi-million-euro air defence systems are increasingly used to intercept drones costing only a few hundred euros. This equation is difficult to sustain.

Success increasingly depends not on the most expensive platforms but on the ability to rapidly produce, adapt and deploy large numbers of relatively inexpensive systems.

Yet, while drone technology evolves every few months, European regulatory systems and procurement procedures often move in years. Europe remains heavily dependent on external supply chains, particularly China, for critical drone components.

This is why we call for:

✅ A more ambitious industrial approach
✅ Scaling up production
✅ Accelerating innovation cycles
✅ Strengthening SMEs and start-ups
✅ Expanding testing environments
✅ Creating faster pathways from concept to industrial-scale production.

📍 The Industrial Accelerator Act is a timely initiative and we welcome its objective to strengthen Europe’s industrial base and support the transition to a low-carbon economy.

For the Employers' Group, the key priority now is clear: accelerate decarbonisation without undermining competitiveness.

However, achieving this goal requires a business-friendly framework that enables companies to invest, innovate and grow in Europe. The proposal rightly focuses on simplifying and accelerating permitting procedures, which is a crucial step forward, but companies need also access to energy, infrastructure and skilled workers, as well as better coordination between 🇪🇺 and national rules. Without these conditions, projects will still face delays and higher costs.

🔶 We also call for a balanced “Made in EU” approach: an open definition of Made in EU approach must be based on clear criteria and fairness to ensure a level playing field. It should ensure effective reciprocity with third countries and avoid distorting competition within the Single Market.

🇪🇺 Europe’s social model depends on a strong and competitive economy.
Quality jobs are created and sustained by economically successful enterprises operating in a favourable business environment, and European businesses are committed to delivering exactly that when the conditions allow for it.

However, companies cannot offer quality employment if they are over-regulated, under-capitalised and unable to grow.

📍 Competitiveness, productivity growth, innovation and skills are therefore not separate from the social agenda: they are the foundation of Europe’s resilience, prosperity and social model.

📣 It's a wrap for our July !

📍 At the High-Level debate on EU Enlargement with Marta Kos, EU Commissioner for Enlargement, we stressed that Europe must treat enlargement as a strategic investment, not a technical afterthought. As our Croatian member Violeta Jelic said, done right, enlargement strengthens our markets, our supply chains, our reforms and our resilience, creating stability, prosperity and growth for both the Union and the candidate countries. That is why enlargement must remain one of the EU’s top priorities, firmly rooted in democracy, social dialogue and the active involvement of civil society.

📍 Today, at the July , Irish Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence Thomas Byrne TD presented the priorities of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026.

As our President Sandra Parthie said, we welcome the focus on competitiveness and security. Competitiveness is the condition for quality jobs, for financing the green and digital transitions, and for our social model. While Ireland knows what it takes to turn a lingering economy into a competitive one, Europe has industrial capacity, a world class workforce and a powerful . What we need is to unlock them through simplification, the removal of fragmentation, and open trade.

📍 At the debate "Better protection for workers: quality jobs and fair labour mobility" with Roxana Mînzatu, the European Commission’s Executive Vice-President for Social Rights and Skills, Quality Jobs and Preparedness, we stressed how , productivity and job quality are interconnected. As Europe already has an extensive labour and social legislation, we should focus on implementing and enforcing existing rules, before considering new regulation.
