At first, I was treating it as a failure and wanted to throw it away. But then… 🤔 It's actually not a failure! It's exactly about what I want to teach; and it's perfect for my perfectionism in redemption. So let me own it! This is my logo… to start with.

Journée Portes Ouvertes au Circularium à Bruxelles, et plus particulièrement à la MicroFactory.

Découverte également de BatiTerre qui donne une seconde vie aux matériaux de construction (récupération des matériaux divers sur des chantiers en vue de les remettre sur le marché).

Ainsi que Daŭrema qui vise à revaloriser les batteries de vélos et trottinettes électriques en leur donnant, lorsque cela est possible, une deuxième vie au lieu d'être directement détruites.

Tiny homes are making a dramatic comeback in popularity in 2021. Over the past year with so many changes happening, people's lives have been shaken up, and not just for the bad. People have decided to try new things, live in new places, get new jobs, and often downsize into smaller, more affordable homes.

Elon Musk is known to be a trendsetter in the sustainable field. He pushed beyond what anyone thought was possible in the electric car industry. He constantly is finding new ways to achieve sustainable practices and shaking up industries that haven’t been changed for years and years, but are completely unsustainable.

Love him or hate him, he has challenged many other leaders in a variety of different industries to innovate and find additional sustainable solutions to common problems. Taking the leap to live in a tiny home, especially one that is sustainably made, is a huge step in that direction.

Yes, it’s no secret that Elon has more money than most. So spending money on something he wants isn’t a big deal. But what is a big deal is making a dramatic downsize as one of the most wealthy individuals in the world. A lot of people live tiny specifically because they want / need to save money — he’s doing it to simplify and live sustainably.

Elon knows that to live tiny is to live sustainably and that it’s the most efficient and effective way to reduce your own carbon footprint and live simply. Small homes use the least amount of energy in heating and cooling not to mention the dramatic waste reduction during construction.

Entire homes are completely demolished every ±70 years. The bigger the home, the more materials that are wasted.

Smaller homes are easier to heat and cool, there is less space to keep clean, which saves on cleaning expenses, and cleaning supplies, and your precious time. A smaller home footprint area also means that the effect on the land is minimized as well.
And there is less space for stuff to accumulate.

Our society is plagued with a consumer mentality. We buy, buy, buy only to fill up big homes with a bunch of unnecessary stuff. With a small home, we are forced to consume less by being more conscious of the things we truly need and can disregard the rest. And buying less stuff means less packaging waste!

It’s a lifestyle that many are moving towards as it brings freedom through simplifying and saving which in turn creates more time and money to be able to actually use your time the way you want.

Pétition: Pour le droit de vivre en habitat léger à Bruxelles !

Nous sommes une jeune famille bruxelloise qui a décidé de vivre en tiny house à Bruxelles. La commune de Woluwe-Saint-Lambert, dans laquelle nous nous sommes installés, nous demande de quitter les lieux, faute de législation adaptée.

La tiny house est pourtant un habitat léger qui peut répondre, en partie, aux problématiques de logement à Bruxelles. Or, elle ne jouit malheureusement pas encore d’une réglementation propre. Les règles de salubrité imposent des normes en terme d’espace et de métrages carrés que les tiny houses ne peuvent respecter de par leur nature même.

En Wallonie, ces règles ont été adaptées aux habitats légers et nous souhaitons que la région de Bruxelles Capitale se positionne elle aussi en adaptant son règlement régional d’urbanisme (RRU) afin d’y inclure ces nouveaux types d’habitat qui se veulent plus écologiques, plus économiques et sont l’objet d’un intérêt croissant au sein de la population bruxelloise et des médias.

« L’impossibilité de trouver un logement à prix modéré constitue l’une des principales causes de départ d’une partie de la population bruxelloise. » Le soir du samedi 9 et dimanche 10 mars 2019.

Nous avons choisi d’habiter en tiny house parce que nous avons la volonté de vivre de manière plus respectueuse de l’environnement, proche de notre noyau familial et social bruxellois et selon nos moyens. Nous y vivons harmonieusement avec notre fils de 9 mois et souhaitons avoir la possibilité de demander un permis d’urbanisme à la commune afin de pouvoir continuer y à vivre.

Nous allons interpeller le ministre de l’urbanisme, Mr Pascal Smet, en ce sens.

We are starting tiny³, aiming to craft state-of-the-art tiny houses and their content, from design to manufacturing.

We launched a “Summer R&D” project and are looking for people to play with us on that exciting project 😁

Do you…
…love R&D, innovation and questioning everything?
…want to do things in the best possible way?
…have free time this summer (July-August)?

The idea is to question absolutely everything and build prototypes to explore ideas.

1. Define all the stages that make up the life (and death) of a tiny house; from the desires of future owners to the recycling of the house.

2. Analyze each of these stages, and each of the parts/areas of each stage. Understand the context, needs and constraints, what is currently/generally done, what works or not, what could be improved...

3. Build prototypes of whole houses, parts, or components. To test, benchmark, better understand and refine understanding and know-how.

4. Define the specifications of the ideal tiny house, in several versions, with options.

Vous voulez agir face à la crise de l'environnement?
Voici les 14 mesures individuelles les plus efficaces :

1- Limiter sa consommation d'énergies fossiles : moins prendre la voiture et l'avion, diminuer le chauffage de 1°C, isoler

2- Manger moins de viande et de poisson

3- Ne plus acheter d'articles jetables ou emballés sous plastique

4- Faire ses courses avec des contenants réutilisables

5- Trier ses déchets et, si possible, démarrer un compost

6- Planter un arbre à la moindre occasion.

7- Acheter de la nourriture locale et de saison

8- Faire la chasse au gaspillage : alimentation, électricité, eau...

9- Réduire son utilisation des ordinateurs, tablettes etc. au minimum utile ou nécessaire

10- Refuser, emprunter, échanger, réutiliser, réparer, recycler avant d'acheter du neuf

11- Boycotter les marques polluantes

12- Mettre la pression à ses élus pour qu'ils agissent en faveur de l'environnement (le niveau local est souvent le plus efficace)

13- Soutenir ou rejoindre une initiative de transition ou un mouvement pro-environnement.

14- Faire passer le mot autour de soi

Bonus 1 : faire tout ça à son rythme sans vouloir être parfait

Bonus 2 : tout ça peut représenter des centaines d’euros économisés chaque année

Il n'est pas trop t**d et tout le monde faire quelque chose - aujourd’hui même. Ne sous-estimez pas votre pouvoir!

On cherche un lieu à Bruxelles où on pourrait construire quelques prototypes pendant 1 à 3 mois, dès que possible, idéalement juillet-août.

On aurait besoin d'une surface de 30 à 50m² avec minimum 4.5m de hauteur, de préférence à l'intérieur.

Quels autres lieux pourraient accueillir un tel projet à Bruxelles?

🤔 Bruxelles-Propreté Serait-il envisageable de le faire dans ou juste à côté d'une déchetterie afin d'utiliser/recycler le matériel qui est sur place pour nos prototypes? Celui-ci ne sortirait pas, on les remettrait dans les containers à la fin de la période de tests.
