The new ILGA-Europe Rainbow Map 2026 highlights a growing divide across Europe on LGBTQ+ rights, inclusion, and democratic protections.

While countries such as Spain continue strengthening equality frameworks and institutional protections, other parts of Europe are experiencing stagnation or increasing pressure on LGBTQ+ communities and civil society.

For the tourism industry, these developments are no longer disconnected from destination reputation, traveler perception, ESG priorities, and long-term competitiveness.

As international travelers increasingly evaluate destinations through the lens of inclusion, safety, and social climate, LGBTQ+ rights are becoming more and more relevant within tourism conversations and destination strategies.
