A Humble Humanitarian Appeal to Honourable Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim
Assalamu Alaikum.
Honourable Prime Minister,
Perhaps one compassionate decision from you could end the fear, pain, and uncertainty that millions of hardworking people have lived with for many years. Perhaps your kindness could allow them to sleep peacefully again after such a long time.
Allah has given you the responsibility to lead a nation. He has given you the power to uphold justice, and also the opportunity to show mercy and compassion. The greatest leaders are remembered not only for protecting the law, but also for understanding the suffering of people.
For the sake of Allah, please take a few minutes to read this humble appeal.
Honourable Prime Minister,
Almost every country has some undocumented migrants or workers. Malaysia is no exception. Many came legally, but because of employer problems, visa issues, administrative difficulties, or other difficult life circumstances, they later became undocumented. Others made mistakes because of poverty and the need to support their families.
They are not all the same, but they all share one identity—they are human beings. They have parents, husbands or wives, children, hopes, dreams, and tears.
The One who created me also created them. If I had to live for years in fear, uncertainty, and hiding, I believe I would also struggle every day. We truly understand another person's pain only when we imagine ourselves in their place.
Many of these people have worked for years in construction, hotels, restaurants, cleaning, farming, landscaping, road maintenance, and many other difficult jobs. Their hard work has also helped support Malaysia's growth.
When Malaysians or foreign tourists receive good service in hotels, restaurants, or other workplaces, many of the people serving them may also be among these workers. Even though they carry fear in their hearts, they continue to serve with a smile. But many of those smiles hide worry rather than peace.
If they were given the opportunity to work legally, those same smiles would shine with confidence, dignity, and hope. A respected and peaceful worker can serve with even greater dedication, benefiting both society and Malaysia's international image.
We sincerely respect the hard work of the Royal Malaysia Police and the Immigration Department for protecting the country's laws. We also understand that they work tirelessly to maintain national security and public order.
However, if your government believes it is appropriate, we humbly ask you to consider a one-time, transparent, well-controlled, and strict legalization programme for undocumented workers who are willing to register and return to the legal system. After that, the law can continue to be enforced firmly so that the same problem does not continue in the future.
Honourable Prime Minister,
Instead of sending these people back to their home countries, if they could be given just one opportunity to become legal under Malaysia's laws, it could remove years of fear, anxiety, and sleepless nights from their lives. They would be able to work honestly, peacefully, and with dignity under the law.
Such a decision could change not only their lives but also the lives of millions of family members who depend on them.
If the tears of so many people can be wiped away because of one compassionate decision, only Allah truly knows the value of that mercy.
A leader who balances justice with compassion, and law with humanity, is remembered not only as a great leader but also as a truly kind and merciful human being.
Mercy is not weakness. Compassion is one of the greatest strengths of true leadership.
For the sake of Allah, if it is consistent with Malaysia's laws and national interest, please consider giving these people one chance to return to the legal system and live with dignity.
We look forward with hope. We sincerely pray that Allah blesses Malaysia with a beautiful, fair, and lasting solution to this long-standing issue.
May Allah guide you to make the best decision and continue to bless Malaysia with peace, prosperity, justice, and compassion.
Respectfully,
The Cry of an Ordinary Person's Heart
