Dear Friends, Colleagues, and Readers,

The Center of Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center) is pleased to announce the launch of a new publication titled “Caucasus Strategic Perspectives” (CSP). The CSP journal will cover regional and global issues from the perspective of Azerbaijani and foreign experts with a focus on the South Caucasus region. The journal will be available at www.cspjournal.az

At the same time, the AIR Center would like to inform you that the publication of the Caucasus International (CI) journal managed previously by the Center for Strategic Studies (SAM) under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan has been terminated following the official dismantle of SAM in 2019. However, the AIR Center will manage the archive of the CI journal and its website (www.cij.az).

All the papers submitted for the CI journal's last call was transferred to the CSP and was published in the CSP’s first volume/issue.

We would like to thank past contributors and editors of the CI journal and look forward to working with a new team to make the CSP journal a truly valuable resource for policy-makers and researchers with expertise in the South Caucasus.

Sincerely yours,
Farid Shafiyev
AIR Center Chairman and CSP's Editor-in-Chief

Dear Readers,

We are happy to announce that a new issue (Vol. 8 • No: 2 • Winter 2018) of Caucasus International (CI) Journal entitled “Connectivity in Eurasia: Implications for South Caucasus Region” has been released.

The current issue is dedicated the transportation and transit routes in Eurasia, the new transport initiatives of the regional and small countries, and the repercussions of all these for the economic stability and security of the South Caucasus states. While analyzing the transportation routes, the authors also reflected their views on the utilization of these projects as soft power instruments over the bilateral relations of these countries with other international/regional actors.

The issue starts with the Colloquy on the achievements Azerbaijan hitherto made in transforming itself to the transportation hub. Journal also presents one subject-matter and two off-topic commentaries regarding the recent political developments in Armenia and Georgia.

As usual, the issue also accommodates the Book Review (S. Frederick Starr & Svante E. Cornell’s “The Long Game on the Silk Road: US and EU Strategy for Central Asia and the Caucasus”) and Caucasus under Review sections, providing an overview of recently published books.
