While checking on a few of our hire boats today, I spotted some promising marks on the sounder and couldn’t resist having a quick cast.

A few minutes later this cobia was in the boat, with another fish shadowing it all the way to the surface.

Just another day on the water around Great Keppel Island. 🎣

After a pretty windy stretch lately, the forecast is finally showing signs of easing 🌴☀️

This weekend is looking promising, with westerly winds forecast for Saturday and Sunday — and if it comes together the way we’re hoping, we could see a beautiful flat bay across Great Keppel Island.

These are the kind of winter weather windows that make exploring the island by boat absolutely magic. Calm water, clear bays, snorkelling, fishing, beach hopping and a proper day out on the water with friends or family.

If the weather does settle, we expect bookings to move quickly this weekend, so we’d definitely encourage people to lock their boats in early.

We’ve recently upgraded our fleet with:
🦺 Brand new Level 100 life jackets for all guests
🛟 Horseshoe life buoys with 30-metre throw lines fitted to our Polycraft hire vessels
🧯 New fire extinguishers installed across the fleet
🌊 New 150N inflatable life jackets for crew aboard our workboats

These upgrades are all part of our ongoing commitment to making Great Keppel Island one of the safest and most enjoyable places to get out on the water.
