We are excited to have three Air Tractor AT-802 aircraft on our Southern Apron this week! ✈️

These single-engine air tankers are incredibly versatile and can be used for agricultural, environmental and firefighting operations. During bushfire season they operate right across the state, focusing on the head of the fire to help slow the rate of spread.

Working alongside the Large Air Tankers (LATs), they are an important part of an integrated aerial firefighting team. Their agility allows them to fly lower and closer to the fire, delivering precise drops of water or retardant exactly where it’s needed.

It’s great to see them here and ready to support firefighting efforts. 👏

🐶The Airport has upgraded the Service Animal Area next to the Departure Lounge to make travelling more comfortable for passengers and their animals.

🐾 The lawn space has nearly doubled in size
🐾 We’ve removed the limestone rocks to create a safer, easier-to-use area

This small, but important improvement, helps make the Airport more accessible and is just one of the ways we’re continuing to enhance Airport facilities.

The Busselton Margaret River Airport has acquired an Aviramp for passenger boarding and disembarking. The Aviramp enhances safety, accessibility and efficiency for travellers flying in and out of the region as well as providing a seamless transition, significantly improving turnaround times for both disembarking and embarking passengers.

By facilitating smoother passenger flow and reducing bottlenecks commonly experienced with traditional aircraft stairs, the ramp supports more efficient aircraft operations and improved on-time performance.

Designed with passenger safety and comfort front of mind, the Aviramp offers a safer and more comfortable boarding experience for all travellers. Importantly, the ramp provides easier, more dignified access for passengers with mobility issues, ensuring a more inclusive travel experience for all members of the community. It is particularly beneficial for families travelling with small children, removing the need to navigate steep stairs while carrying bags or managing prams.

The team are currently undergoing training and the Aviramp will be in full swing shortly.

Re-sharing this in case you missed it. The road closure south of the airport is now in place. Bussell Highway to the airport is open, but if you are coming from Sues Road, you will be diverted.

𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 - 𝗩𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆 🚧

Main Roads are replacing the Vasse Highway Bridge in Yoongarillup, near the Busselton Margaret River Airport. From 8 January 2026 to early April, 𝗩𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗱 between Acton Park Road (south of Neville Hyder Drive - airport access) and Sues Road. A detour via Sues Road will be in place.

Travellers to the airport should plan ahead and allow additional travel time. Busselton Margaret River Airport will be accessible from Bussell Highway for the duration of the bridge closure.
