Our fifth catchment rehabilitation project at Laidley Creek is now complete!
Working with environmental experts Healthy Land & Water, we’ve rehabilitated a further 1km stretch of degraded creek banks along Laidley Creek to prevent sediment run-off into regional waterways.
By removing invasive weeds, re-grading the banks and replanting native plants, these works are:
✅ protecting adjoining prime agricultural land from erosion, particularly during severe weather events
✅ improving water quality and habitat outcomes at the site
✅ reducing sediment run-off into the waterway.
For over a decade, we’ve worked with partners including Healthy Land & Water, local landowners, researchers and local and state government partners to restore a total of 3.8km of degraded creek banks along Laidley Creek.
In total, every year this is helping prevent on average, almost 20,000 tonnes of sediment from entering the regional waterways, Brisbane River and the Port’s navigational channel at the mouth of the Brisbane River.
