Recognising 15 years of service from Stuart Murfett!

Stuart began his time with De Bruyn’s Transport working as a Medium Rigid driver, spending around three years on the Don Road run.

As he gained more experience, Stuart had the opportunity to get his semi licence and take on different work across the business. He spent time doing general freight before eventually moving into our bulk cement operations.

In 2014, Stuart joined Rick Sheean and Andrew Brown as the third driver carting cement. Initially, he would return to general freight during the quieter winter months, but he now works on cement cartage all year round.

Over his 15 years with the company, Stuart has continued to develop his skills and take on new opportunities as they have come along.

Outside of work, Stuart enjoys travelling around the world, caravanning and getting out on his motorbike or taking his Monaro for a drive. He also enjoys golf, although he reckons he spends more time walking around the golf course than actually playing it, but he’s always willing to give it a crack.

We thank Stuart for his reliability, commitment and contribution over the years. Congratulations, Stuart, on reaching 15 years with De Bruyn’s Transport!

We’re incredibly proud of the people who make up our Bass Strait Transport team, many of whom have been part of the business and its story for many years.

Rod is one of those people, and we’re proud to celebrate his 10 years of service. Congratulations, Rod!

Recognising 10 years of service from Rod Kolbe!

Rod’s journey with Bass Strait Transport began as a subcontractor driver with the original Bass Strait Transport, a role he held from 2010 through to 2016.

In 2016, Rod moved off the road and into the computer management side of the operation for a year before taking on the role of PUD Fleet Controller for the next two years. When De Bruyn’s Transport purchased Bass Strait Transport in 2019, Rod moved into the role of Administrative Manager, where he continues to play an important part in the business today.

Rod is known for being loyal, dependable and always up for a laugh. His boss Rick sums up Rod’s contribution pretty simply, saying, “I’d love to have 10 of him.”

Outside of work, Rod enjoys spending time with his kids and grandkids, particularly watching his grandkids play representative basketball. He also enjoys travelling and gardening when he gets the chance.

We thank Rod for his loyalty, hard work and contribution over the years. Congratulations, Rod, on reaching 10 years with Bass Strait Transport!

🚧 A New Chapter for Our Hobart Depot

Work has officially commenced on the redevelopment of our Hobart depot, with the first earthworks underway around the new depot entrance.

The project is a significant investment in our Hobart operations and will deliver improved facilities for our people, better safety and security, and increased capacity for the future.

Key upgrades include a new car park, expanded offices and staff facilities, increased truck parking, a new rigid truck entrance from Gormanston Road, yard improvements and a new 1,800m² warehouse extension and awning.

It’s great to see work underway, and we look forward to sharing the progress over the coming months.

Recognising 10 years of service from John Bowden!

John joined De Bruyn’s Transport 10 years ago when the company took over the acid cartage work from Ixom, where he had already spent 14 years working.

Since coming across to De Bruyn’s, he has continued specialising in acid cartage out of Heybridge, delivering statewide to locations ranging from the West Coast through to Dover and plenty of places in between.

With many years of experience in this specialised area of transport, he has built a strong knowledge of the work and is known for being reliable, hardworking and honest in everything he does.

Outside of work, he enjoys building radio-controlled model planes and getting out to fly them.

We thank John for his hard work, reliability and contribution over the past decade.

Congratulations on reaching 10 years with De Bruyn’s Transport!

Celebrating Our People 👏

Today was a special day for the wider De Bruyn’s Transport team, as we held our first Bass Strait Transport Honours Day.

Since taking ownership of Bass Strait Transport in 2019, we’ve been proud to continue building on the history and foundations established by the people who have been part of the business for many years.

We felt it was important to recognise those who have reached 10+ years of service, acknowledging their full history and contribution over that time.

A business is shaped by the people who turn up year after year, and we’re proud to have so much experience, loyalty and knowledge across our team.

Congratulations to all five recognised today on a great achievement!
