The concept of Rydair Pads was developed in the UK in the late 1990’s as a saddle pad for the Equestrian industry. They were introduced into Australia in early 2000, where the benefits were immediately recognised. However, the product required a significant upgrade to cope with the more demanding Australian conditions. Premium materials were sourced from Europe, and the manufacture of the product
was relocated to Australia. The result being an anti-slip pad which moulded to fit the individual horse and saddle, flexed with the muscle movement of the horse and did not absorb sweat. The pads are used by Jockeys in the Racing Industry, with Glen Boss being victorious on Makybe Diva in three Melbourne Cups as well as on other leading horses including Temple of Boom, Spirit of Boom, Buffering, Black Caviar and Takeover Target. Rydair Pads were also used in Eventing at the Athens Olympics and Showjumping at the Beijing Olympics. Seat pads for humans were developed around 2008 when it was discovered that pads originally made for use on the seats of Trotting Gigs were also being used on forklifts. Testing by interstate transport drivers revealed a reduction in body fatigue to the operator, improved circulation to the legs reduced swelling and pins and needles to the legs and ankles, elimination of numbness and pressure points to the backside, and relief from backache being some of the benefits. The pads reduce discomfort and vibration that have the potential to cause musculoskeletal disorders. The unique feature of the Rydair Pad is that it compresses to allow the body to retain its natural shape, while maintaining the same pressure compressed as not compressed. Several thousand Rydair Seat Pads are currently in use in areas as diverse as Office Chairs, Aircraft, Helicopters, Interstate Transport, Forklifts, Freight Trains, Earthmoving, Mining, 4WD’s, Grey Nomads as well seating at Sports Stadiums. Rydair Pads are simple, durable and long lasting, reducing as well as preventing back problems and body fatigue in situations were people are seated for any period of time.
