The Eastern 80 is happening on Saturday 21 February and we love being part of this incredible community ride that raises funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. Riders can choose between the 50km or 80km distances along the Lilydale to Warburton Rail Trail and soak up an awesome atmosphere along the way.

Joel’s sister and one of the friendly faces you’ll see at COG BIKES & BREW.

Danielle moves between the café and the bike side of the business, welcoming riders, walkers, families and visitors, serving up coffees, toasties and cold drinks, and helping out wherever she’s needed.

Sometimes she’s behind the counter, sometimes on the bike side, and always happy to stop for a chat and hear about your day.

We’ve been part of the Warburton community for a number of years now, welcoming locals and visitors riding the trail and now the Warburton Bike Park.

But do you know who’s actually behind the scenes at COG BIKES?

Let’s start with Joel 👋

Owner of COG BIKES and the guy behind the scenes solving bike problems every day.

From quick fixes to the tricky ones that need a bit of thinking and testing, Joel loves nothing more than getting bikes running right and riders back out enjoying their ride.

Some days you’ll even find him behind the coffee machine making the coffees or taking your toastie order, because bikes and good food go hand in hand here.

The pack up at the end of the day always takes forever, especially after the busy ones.

But it’s hard not to pause in this moment of peace and quiet and reflect on the day that was. Hiring out bikes, serving up fresh scones, sharing coffees and chats with locals and travellers from afar.

Whether people were riding the trail, walking it, or simply stopping to take in the scenery, it’s a pretty special feeling to be part of their day.
