🎙️ New Episode – Chars Podcast | Episode 5: Green Man Char/s
In this episode of Chars, I sit down with Ryan O’Connor, Biochar Manager at Green Man Char, one of the producers I partner with at Byron Biochar.
Green Man Char produces biochar from clean arborist prunings — a low-cost, locally available feedstock that’s ideally suited to being converted into stable, high-quality carbon rather than wasted or emitted.
Our conversation is deliberately practical. We cover:
the feedstock and why it matters,
the production process and how it influences char quality,
the characteristics of their biochar,
the different products they offer, and
real-world applications and case studies already in use.
This is a grounded discussion about end products, where they’re being applied, and the tangible benefits users are seeing — from soils and compost through to broader land and landscape outcomes.
If you’re interested in how biochar actually performs beyond the lab or the pitch deck, this one’s worth a listen.
