Big day on a Mid North Coast property ๐ŸŒฑ

A couple of bulk bags of Byron Biochar have arrived, ready to be spread and worked into a large area before a native planting goes in.

Getting biochar into the ground first is a great move, it helps the soil hold onto moisture through dry spells, gives soil life somewhere to thrive, and keeps nutrients where the roots can reach them. The plants get a better start, and a good chunk of carbon stays locked in the ground for good.

Planning your own planting or revegetation project? Give us a shout, always happy to help you work out if biocharโ€™s a good fit.

Big news from Byron Biochar ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The KonTiki Native Ironbark โ€” the big one โ€” is off the drawing board, and we're looking for the first producer to take it on! ๐Ÿ™Œ

This is the commercial-scale kiln in the range: 1,800 litres of working volume, and around 1,530 litres of settled biochar per burn. It's made for producers working at serious scale โ€” contract producers, forestry and mill-residue operators, carbon-project folks, big estates and research stations.

Same deep-cone flame-cap design as the rest of the family ๐ŸŒฟ 5 mm Corten steel cone, welded steel frame, winch-assisted tilt so you're not lifting it by hand, and castors + forklift pockets so you can actually shift it around the yard.

We build the first one as soon as it's got a home โ€” so this is your chance to be first in. $13,000 + GST (ex works, shipping quoted separately), 4โ€“6 week lead time once the build kicks off.

Australian-designed by Gordon Hirst at Epsitech, Australian-made, and proudly distributed by us โ€” with a nod, as always, to the Ithaka Institute, whose open-source KonTiki design started it all.

Keen to hear from anyone working at this scale โ€” get in touch ๐Ÿ“ธ

The big one is ready ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The KonTiki Native Ironbark โ€” our commercial-scale, 1,800 L flame-cap kiln โ€” has finished design, and weโ€™re looking for the first producer to take it on.

Built for producers working at scale: ~1,530 L of settled biochar per burn, a 5 mm Corten cone, winch-assisted tilt, and castors + forklift pockets to move it around a working site. First unit gets built once itโ€™s got a buyer โ€” so thereโ€™s a real first-in opportunity here.

$13,000 + GST, ex works. Australian-designed by Gordon Hirst at Epsitech, Australian-made, distributed by Byron Biochar. Open-source KonTiki lineage from the Ithaka Institute ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฑ Nothing beats a still morning and a wheelbarrow of good biochar.

Worked into your beds or topdressed across the lawn, biochar helps soil hold onto moisture and nutrients, supports the microbes that do the real work underground, and locks carbon away in the ground for the long haul.

A little goes a long way โ€” and your soil will thank you for seasons to come.

โ„๏ธ Winter is when the real soil work happens.
While everything above ground slows down, this is the best window to rebuild what's underneath it โ€” and with EOFY here, it's the perfect time to stock up before spring planting kicks off.
๐ŸŒฑ Powdered biochar locks in nutrients, holds moisture and gives your soil structure to bounce back stronger.

๐Ÿ’ง Liquid biochar is the fast track โ€” easy to apply now so it's already working by the time spring growth ramps up.
๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Use code SGA10 at checkout.
