Today Team Anchors Deep bid farewell to our Nobel Steed. The Mercedes did us proud but it has now departed by barge to a new home on Magnetic Island.

We had found our next Sh*tbox on Facebook marketplace but needed to do some wheeling and dealing in order to get a swap happening for it.

For those who don’t know, I love a good swap to something new. I have been known to swap form a $2000 camper to a $8000 boat to a $15k camper to a $22k boat.

After messaging roughly 250 people we had a camper trailer lined up but unfortunately weren’t able to continue with that swap. 😞

Many more inquiries lead to a response for a motorbike and in a couple of days we had lined up a day to swap. Wasn’t much time to think about it but here we are… we are now owners of this motorbike.

Not for long though as we will be swapping it for the next car… Keep posted to see what we will be prepping before we nominate ourselves again for our second Sh*tbox Rally (hopefully in 2028).

So obviously we won’t be posting up here as often until we have any updates on another potential rally or vehicles changes etc.

Please stay following our page and check out our posts when they pop on up. We will have news here and there to update you and keep you along for the journey.

I didn’t believe everyone who had done the rally before about getting the Post Rally Blues. They were right though. Both Shaun and myself are already talking about when is our next trip. Will we try the rally as a support vehicle next or do the rally as a team again?

The car has been up in Facebook Marketplace for a few weeks with some lowball offers and people lined up to see it but then ghost us and never respond to a message again. We are looking to move to a Commodore or Falcon wagon.

If anyone has one that they would like to swap for the luxurious Mercedes for get in touch. We are following a few leads and trying to do some swaps ourselves on the background currently though. We will keep you updated on our progress as it unfolds.

Lucky we had the army hootchie covering the front of the car. This water hole isn’t that deep but it swallowed up a number of cars that didn’t consider where their engine air intake comes from.

The car has been stripped back from its rally look.

Roof racks, roof pod, uhf removed from the roof. Sh*tbox Rally stickers and all our sponsor stickers taken off. A good outside clean getting kilograms of mud and rocks off of it. Most of the dragonflies and bugs have been sprayed off of the front and roof. It is back to looking close to the day we picked it up.

I have to say, Mercedes paint holds up very well over 25 years. It could fool many to think it want a Sh*tbox. Not many car manufacturers paint lasts as well as this car has.

The missing fog light, the dash lights, the cracked plastic interior panels, the sagging roof liner, front bumper damage and rear door issues still remain.

We will hope to sell it to someone who can get it back all of its glory.

Shaun and I already have planned on what car we will try to source next if we take on the adventure again. We saw which cars on the rally faired better than others and had more space as well.
