Read these regulations carefully, for example;

𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗷𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗳:
• you're boating alone or only with children under 12 years and on an open ship less than 4.8 metres in length while underway.
• you’re boating between sunset and sunrise on an open boat less than 4.8 metres in length while underway.
• you’re crossing a designated coastal bar on an open ship, or on an open area of a ship of any length, or on certain craft*.
• children one year or more and under 12 years on an open boat or an open area of a boat of any length whilst underway.

Starting December 1, 2024, new lifejacket regulations will take effect to increase maritime safety. You must understand and abide by these changes to stay safe and compliant on the water.

SAFETY!! A simple reminder for all of us to stay safe on the water.

You and your lifejacket. 🦺

Before you head out on the water, remember to:

• Choose lifejackets according to your activities and the waterways you'll be operating in—and know when it's mandatory to wear one.

• Check they’re in good condition and working order, complying with the latest Australian Standard AS4758.

• Allocate a ‘correctly’ fitting lifejacket to everyone on board – this is a *must* - especially for children.

• Make sure everyone knows how to put one on, wear it correctly and operate it in an emergency.

• Always wear one if in doubt. If you’re not 100% sure of the mandatory wearing requirements, or you’re out at night, in poor weather or boating alone - put a lifejacket on.

• Make sure all lifejackets are stowed properly, always accessible and that everyone knows where they are.

Lifejacket: If it's not on, it can't save you.
