DownsSteam is off to Thallon, a long and exciting trip just over 900 kms round trip. With the high risk of fire, dry conditions this trip has been made possible by Southern Downs Steam Railway, with DH-45 joining DH-41 at Warwick. First time in many years two DH locomotives have been coupler together. It is a collaborative effort between two heritage groups and well definitely see DH-41 on SDSR trains in the future.

DownsSteam Toowoomba has had a busy couple of weeks with the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. Our Carnival of Flowers train trips were sell-outs, along with Peacock Collective Events' very successful High Teas. The Weekend Table event is now sold out too.

October has a number of trips coming up including our family-friendly Super Saturday trips and a special Steam train trip to the Pittsworth Craft & Fine Food Spectacular. Our very popular Spooky Halloween Steam Special returns again this year! Trip details are below including prices and departure stations. Note all trips are return trips.

Steam Pittsworth Craft & Fine Food Spectacular Departs 9am from Drayton Station. Adults $95, Child U16 $70, Family (2 adults and 2 children U16) $260

🚂 Steam Shuttle Pittsworth to Brookstead Departs 11:30am from Pittsworth. Adults $40,child U16 $20, Family (2 adults and 2 children U16) $100

🚂 Saturday, 17 October
Super Saturday Steam Special - 2 trips departing 9am and 12noon from Toowoomba Station to Drayton. Adult $40, Child U16 $20, Family $100

Spooky Halloween Steam Special departing 6:30pm Toowoomba Station to
Drayton. Adult $45, Child U16 $25

A huge thank you to Petrena Windscreens! 🚂👏

We would like to extend a very special thank you to the team at Petrena Windscreens in Toowoomba for generously supporting DownsSteam and our ongoing restoration of diesel locomotive DH-41.

The Petrena Windscreens team recently came out to our Drayton depot to manufacture and install the new windscreens and glazing into DH-41’s cab. The workmanship and attention to detail have been fantastic, with the finished result perfectly complementing this historic Queensland locomotive.

It is support like this from local Toowoomba businesses that makes projects such as DH-41 possible. Every job completed takes us another step closer to seeing this locomotive restored, commissioned and back out on the main line where she belongs!

Thank you again to the entire Petrena Windscreens team for donating your time, sharing your craftsmanship and getting behind DownsSteam. We greatly appreciate your contribution to preserving Queensland’s railway heritage.

There are two High Tea seatings available each day at 10:30am to 12noon and 1:30pm to 3pm on each of the following dates. Note that there will be days outside normal operating days for DownsSteam.
