A huge thank you to Petrena Windscreens! 🚂👏

We would like to extend a very special thank you to the team at Petrena Windscreens in Toowoomba for generously supporting DownsSteam and our ongoing restoration of diesel locomotive DH-41.

The Petrena Windscreens team recently came out to our Drayton depot to manufacture and install the new windscreens and glazing into DH-41’s cab. The workmanship and attention to detail have been fantastic, with the finished result perfectly complementing this historic Queensland locomotive.

It is support like this from local Toowoomba businesses that makes projects such as DH-41 possible. Every job completed takes us another step closer to seeing this locomotive restored, commissioned and back out on the main line where she belongs!

Thank you again to the entire Petrena Windscreens team for donating your time, sharing your craftsmanship and getting behind DownsSteam. We greatly appreciate your contribution to preserving Queensland’s railway heritage.

This Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers step aboard DownsSteam’s beautifully restored Lady MacGregor’s Dining Car, located on-site at DownsSteam’s Drayton Station and enjoy High Tea in an atmosphere reminiscent of a more gracious era of travel.

Surrounded by polished timber, vintage details and the gentle romance of a bygone railway age, settle in and savour a beautifully presented selection of delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked savoury treats, traditional cakes and tempting slices, accompanied by your choice of fragrant loose-leaf tea or freshly brewed plunger coffee.

Your High Tea experience also includes a glass of French bubbles, because some occasions call for a little extra sparkle. 🥂

Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, enjoying a leisurely catch up with friends, or simply looking for something a little different this Carnival of Flowers, Vintage Peacock Express High Tea offers a delightful taste of days gone by.

Dates/Times
There are two High Tea seatings available each day at 10:30am to 12noon and 1:30pm to 3pm on each of the following dates. Note that there will be days outside normal operating days for DownsSteam.

Cost is $89pp and payment can be made by paypal or direct debit. Bookings are made directly with Peacock Express.

We had a wonderful ceremony for our 25th Anniversary celebrating the work and support of many. We acknowledged the service of our long term volunteers with a presentation of badges.

Many thanks to Chair Ros Scotney, Mayor Geoff McDonald, Councillor and Patron Kerry Shine, Member for Condamine Pat Weir and our MC Robert Ketton.

Here’s to many more years of keeping our historic railway running and growing!
