Let go to Ekka someone said - why not - so the plan was in place to take Polly aka Happy Life to Ekka for the Standardbred off the track classes.
He’s a baby at 6 and been with me a year - wow what journey - the good the bad and the ugly. With a whole team of wonderful people behind me today we went to Ekka - in his led class he went up 3 placing from the original line up to finish 5th against much more mature horses - he looked very immature. Then we harnessed up in the absolute pouring rain and wild winds (the arena fence crashed down around him) and in the OTT standardbred turnout in harness he won the class. 5 mins later he was under saddle and finished 4th. It was a good day - everything is wet/dirty/ chucked in as the rain continued and we needed to be off the arena so the jumping horses could start. He was very stressed, noise, moving thing and people everywhere and the torrential rain. But he excelled.
They say it takes a village to raise a child - it takes an army to prepare a horse.
My enduring thanks to Amy for riding his so kindly, my grooms on the ground today Robyn & Michelle, Fiona for being there for me and all her help, Linda for helping tune him, my chiro Brian who comes to my distress calls regularly, farrier Tony, Todd for my new beautiful PH saddle, Tracey for lending me a suitable noseband and for him. The greatest thing was the applause from the grandstand. Thank u
We’re going back Sunday for the harness class to try again.

After a bit of badgering for a while, and 6 or so weeks ago, after much thought I took on an amazing 18 yo welsh A mare who was unstarted- well handled, much loved but a paddock ornament for her whole life (very pretty) why?
It was on her 86 year old owners bucket list was to drive her.
She was stiff and a bit tense & worried, but with my super support team Brian Lawson (chiro) Jill Fenn (equine dentist) and Tony Hadley (farrier) Michelle Passeri (logistics lol) she started her journey.
I’m happy to announce yesterday she graduated and Michael Randall (a proud 86 I got it wrong at 85) drove Ms Coco - the grin was ear to ear and he really didn’t want to get off the Jinker to let Doug his carer have drive. His smile told me everything I needed to know.
Michael is an extremely experienced horseman - he’s driven in the UK & Australia His passion is Welshies, in particular cobs and A’s.
Thank you Michael & Doug for entrusting me to start your beautiful pony and help u achieve your dream - u can cross this off your bucket list now.

Someone once said when you love someone with Dementia you lose them more and more everyday. When they are diagnosed, when they go through different stages, when they need treatment and when they die. This is called "Ambigua Loss."
I wouldn’t wish Dementia on anyone. As the brain slowly dies, it changes physically and eventually forgets who their loved ones are. They can end up lying in bed not moving and not eating or drinking.

There will be people who will scroll by this post because Dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who battled or is fighting Dementia.

To Raise Awareness of this Cruel Disease, I'd like my Friends to Put this on their Page Today.

A Special Thank You to All Willing to Post This On their Timeline for Alzheimer’s Awareness Week 🙏🏼 💜

BUNDANOON OR BUST
Fiona Strachan and I and our Welsh C mare Glengarry Morgana have hit the road to travel to Bundanoon NSW to compete in the first ever Aust vs UK “Zilco Ashes.”
You can follow our progress and the event on horseandcountry.tv and subscribe to the event for $14.99 to watch live. Sat & Sunday. Beautiful venue - great facilities and everyone is keen to help u.

It’s a short course of 3 events performed in a 60m x 30m arena.
Compulsory figures (similar to dressage) precision driving cones (ultimate time and clear.)
4 obstacles - FAST!! Everyone does each obstacle before moving to the next one. No marathon distance.

We get to practice everything before the competition. It’s to encourage “everyone” to participate.

UK does the same comp same weekend - as I understand points are awarded and best country score wins.
