No Richmond footy this weekend because of the bye. So, a good chance to take a breath and recharge the batteries for the team and the Tiger fans. Enjoy the long weekend everyone and we will be back next week for the lead into the game against the Lions in Hobart.

Richmond got 'tumped' on Saturday by 20 goals. After a reasonable 1st qtr the Tigers were completly overwhelmed. As mentioned earlier in the year defeats like this were probably going to happen. All you can do is 'lick your wounds' and look for the positives... and there were a couple.
It was good to see young Jasper Alger bag 3 goals and OHB kicked his first goal in AFL footy. Taranto, Prestia, Ross and Hopper all played well, matching the Swans for clearances. Across the road at Tramway Oval it was great to see the VFL side get a win after lossing 3 close games in the last month. Mid season draft pick Kye Annand showed good form in the VFL playing down back after only being at the club for 4 days.
Richmond have the bye next week which will not only be a good break for the Tiger cubs but should see the return of 4-6 AFL listed players from injury. Amongst those likely to return are Ralphsmith who played in the VFL, Nankervis, Rioli, Faull, Brown, Peucker and maybe Lynch and even Hotten.
Round 14 will see Richmond on the road again as they face the Lions down in Hobart. Brrrrrrrrrr!

Richmond have picked up Kye Annand in the mid season draft. Annand is descirberd as: "capable of playing across every line but has settled as a key defender at VFL level with Geelong. At 200cm tall and 23 years old, he can play as a tagger or in an intercept role." Welcome to Tigerland Kye! (Interestingly, I am not sure how many Richmond VFL players listed for the draft, but none were selected.)
In other news, the Captain's training on Friday at 12pm has been moved to the SCG. Also applications for the kid's Guard of Honour and VIP Viewing are now closed and details have been sent to the club.
Finally, the Saturday program is VFL game starts 10am at Tramway Oval, Tigers v. Swans main game at 1:15pm on the SCG and post-game drinks with Dale Weightman at Watson's EQ from 4pm. If you are likely to join us post game please drop us an email at [email protected] so we have an idea of numbers.

The Tigers celebrated their 2nd win of the season on Friday. At times Richmond seem to lose their way but in the end they got it done for Shorty, and the Tiger Army! Faull will miss next week from concussion but the Tigesr are starting to get some players back. Prestia, Riolki and Banks could all be available and Sims got through managed minutes in the VFL.
This week it is Sydney at the SCG which will be a tough ask but if the young Tigers can bring their pressure game they should be able to take it right up to the Swans. Lynch only needs one more goal for his 500 and the smaller SCG may well provide him plenty of opportunities. Of course NSW Richmond FC Supporters will at the ground to cheer the boys on in person.
Unfortunately, we have had to cancel the pre-game function on Friday due to poor ticket sales. To make up for this we are planning post games drinks at Watson's EQ which is next to the SCG. This is free and unticketed and Dale weightman will be our special guest. If you are likely to join can you please drop us an email so we can keep track of numbers.
In other news the Friday training run by the Tigers will now be at 12pm on Tramway Oval and the VFL side will play the Swans also at Tramway starting at 10am on Saturday. Finally there are still a few spots left for the kids 'Guard iof Honour' and the 'VIP Viewing'. If you are interested email us before Wednesday lunch time at [email protected] or check our website at https://www.sydneyrichmondtigers.com/

Every game is important but some more so than others, especially this Friday night. Richmond are a great chance of a win, it’s “‘Dream time at the G” and it is Jayden Shorts 200th game.
LeFau and Alger come into the side replacing Gray and Fawcett. The pundits are tipping the Dons but not confidently. I have tipped the Tigers. I still think the backs look strong and with Lynch firing in the forward and bringing the other forwards into the game they can kick a winning score. Once again it is all about the mids and their clearance and connection going forward. Thera are a lot of intangibles but I reckon the Tigers can win.
Jayden Short has had a huge career at Richmond. He was selected off the rookie draft list as a small forward in 2015. However, he soon migrated to the half backline where he has established himself as an elite backman, playing in the 2019 and 2020 Grand Final sides and winning the Jack Dyer medal in 2020. So, congratulations Jayden on 200 games and the birth of your son Archie a couple of weeks ago!
The NSW Richmond FC Supporters will be gathering at the ‘Alex’ on Friday night to barrack hard and long for the next Richmond win. So, grab your Tiger gear and come along and join us we cheer the young Tigers on. "Go Shorty! Go Tigers!! Eat'em alive!!!

The Tigers certainly got jumped in the first qtr against the Saints and although they looked much better for the rest of the game they continued to lose ground on the scoreboard. Still Richmond probably did well to actually get a full team on the park at all! Postives from the game, and there were a few, were the great play by Miller in the backline the clear improvement by both Faull and Fawcett scores and play under the able leadership of Lynch.
This week will be a quick 5 day turnaround to face the Dons on Friday in the 'Dreamtime at the G' game. The loss of Gray early last week was another blow but the availability of Lefau, Ryan and Smith and possibly Alger should provide sufficient depth to field a team.
Not only is this one of Tigers 'marquee' games of the year but it is also a strong chance to score a second win for the year!
This Friday night he NSW Richmonf FC Supporters will be the 'Alex' barracking for the next Richmond win. So, grab you Tiger gear and come along and join us. "C'arn the Tigers!"
Of course, on the following Friday night, 29th May, we will all be at the Sydney pre-game functiont at the Paddo RSL. Richmond have brought back 3 of their 'Tiger cubs' for the game against the Saints. Noah Roberts-Thompson after some great VFL form got the call this week and will be the clubs 6th(?) debutante this year. Joining him will be 'Rising Star' nominee Sam Grlj and tall forward Liam Fawcett. Fawcett replaces Lefau and NRT and Grlj replace the injured Brown and McAuliffe. If you count the emrgencies that is the entire list of fit Richmond AFL players!
However, Richmond backs look solid and while Lynch and Campbell are in good form up front. So, it looks like the game will come down to the battle in the middle. Balta and OHB have been good in the ruck and Taranto, Ross and Hopper should get plenty of ball but so far this season it has been the delivery into the forward line where the problems have occurred.
One thing is for sure, the Tigers cannot afford another 'fade out' like last week, they will need to take it up to the Saints for all 4 qtrs.
As always, the NSW Richmond FC Supporters will be barracking for the boys at the 'Alex' on Sunday afternoon. So, come along and join as we cheer for a Tiger win. "Go Tigers! Eat'em alive!!"

The Tigers started strongly last Sunday and played great footy up until halftime but lost the 'plot' in the third qtr. It was a bit disappointing after their 4 qtr effort last week. Richmond's cause was not helped by the loss of Brown with a broken arm in the first 10 mins of the game. More positively Campbell's great running goal was a real highlight and 3 goals to Lynch showed real leadership up forward.
Trainor was a late replacement for Grjl and played really well and should hold his place with the loss of Brown. Richmond showed glimpses of the style Yze is trying to instil but it is frustrating the learning process with so many young players unavailable.
On Sunday the Tigers will match up with the Saints at Marvel. St Kilda has had a few problems of their own so far and if Richmond apply the same pressure they showed in the first half against the Crows they could catch them out. The NSW Richmonf FC Supporters will be back at the 'Alex' to cheer the young Tigers on. So, grab you Tiger gear and come along and join us. "Go Tigers! Eat'em Alive!!"

The mood around the club and the fans has been a lot happier this week after getting the first win of the season. The Crows will, of course, be a much tougher test. Like Richmond , Adelaide play a strong 'contested ball' game so it will be important to see who wins that stat. The loss of Prestia last week was a blow but it did allow young McAuliffe a chance to show his stuff. That loss will be balanced this week by the return of Taranto who is the only change in the team.
Balta has been picked in the back line but after the last 2 weeks he will undoubtedly start in the ruck and alternate with Hayes-Brown. It was great to see the forwrds finally kick a big score and although Faull and Campbell both kicked 3 each it is very obvious the difference that Lynch has made since coming back. It was also great to see Vlastuin back to his 'intercepting' best.
The Crows are a formidable team but with a confident start and the Tiger army cheering them on at the 'G' the Tigers should be more than competitive. The NSW Richmond FC Supporters will be back at the Alex barracking long hard. So, come along and join us as we shout for another Tiger win! "C'arn the Tiges! Eat'em alive!!
