Update: ILA Strike Ends After Tentative Agreement

After several days of disruptions, the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) have reached a tentative wage agreement, bringing an end to the strike that began on October 1, 2024. Important Update for Air Cargo Shippers!

Starting September 4, 2024, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) began enforcing new rules rejecting vague cargo descriptions in Air Cargo Advance Screening (ACAS) submissions. A 30-day warning period is currently in effect and will end on October 6, 2024. After that, all non-compliant submissions will be rejected starting October 7, 2024.
