SYD’s connections to China are getting even stronger. 🇨🇳

226,000 seats will be added to the Shanghai and Guangzhou over the upcoming summer peak and Chinese New Year travel period.

These flights will provide greater choice and flexibility for travellers to China or connecting onwards across Asia and beyond.

✈️ China Eastern’s Sydney–Shanghai service increasing to three flights daily from 11 December 2026 to 15 February 2027.

✈️ China Southern Airlines' Sydney–Guangzhou service increasing from two to three daily flights from 25 October 2026, before ramping up to four flights daily between 1 December 2026 and 28 February 2027.

Sydney Airport has appointed to help progress planning for our T2-T3 terminal redevelopment. ✈️

Multiplex will bring specialist construction and delivery expertise to one of our most complex and significant developments.

The redevelopment is expected to deliver new terminal space, 12 swing gates capable of supporting domestic and international operations, improved terminal connectivity and greater capacity, helping create a smoother experience for passengers and airlines.

We look forward to seeing this project come to life.

New cabin. New destination. ✈️

Emirates' EK417 Sydney to Dubai service is now operated by a newly refurbished B777, featuring the airline's Premium Economy cabin.

From September, passengers can experience Emirates' award winning Game Changer First Class suites on the route.

The airline is also flying from Dubai to Helsinki from 1 October, opening the door to Finland's stunning landscapes, world renowned design culture and the Northern Lights.

More flights, more choice with Air China. 🇨🇳

Air China will increase its Sydney-Beijing service from five weekly flights to daily from October 2026, before increasing to double daily during the Chinese New Year peak in January and February.

The additional services provide greater choice and flexibility for business and leisure travellers, with morning arrivals into Sydney and early evening arrivals into Beijing enabling convenient onward connections across China and Air China's extensive European network. ✈️

Master Plan 2045 Approved ✅

The Federal Government has approved Sydney Airport's Master Plan 2045, setting the long term vision for how Australia's busiest airport will grow over the next two decades.

The plan will help prepare for more than 72 million passengers a year by 2045, support $70.6 billion in annual economic activity and create an additional 105,000 direct jobs at the airport.

It also provides a framework for future investment in terminals, transport connections and passenger facilities, while supporting more sustainable airport operations.

As Sydney grows, we're planning ahead to ensure our airport continues to support tourism, trade, jobs and connection to the world.

Almost 10 million passengers travelled through Sydney Airport in the second quarter of 2026, with more than 20.7 million people passing through our terminals in the first half of the year.

Upgrades in T2 Domestic also progressed, including the installation of new lifts, self-service kiosks and automatic bag drops designed to improve efficiency and enhance the passenger experience.

✈️ More flights. More choice. More premium travel options.

Virgin Australia will increase Sydney to Doha services to twice daily from 7 December 2026 to 28 March 2027 (operated by Qatar Airways).

The additional flights mean passengers will now have three direct daily services to Doha, with all flights featuring ’ renowned Business Class.

This addition through the VA/QR partnership now provides over 7,000 seats a week for SYD passengers to enjoy seamless access to more than 160 destinations across Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
