Yesterday marked the beginning of NAIDOC Week 2022, a time each year when Australians celebrate the rich history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Australia. The theme this year for Naidoc Week is Get Up! Stand Up! Show Up!

In honour of Naidoc Week, Perth's Council House has created a mesmerizing light display of the Aboriginal flag on the building's facade. An impressive and beautiful addition to Perth's skyline this week with all 22,000 LED lights shining brightly.

Perth and Mandurah motorists are being reminded to fill up today if possible to beat tomorrow's fuel price hike. FuelWatch advises average ULP prices will climb to 210.0 cents per litre.

FLOOD ALERT: The Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) has warned "significant flooding" is likely in Central, Western and Northern Queensland today.

Some parts of the state are expected to receive more than 300mm of rain today, with Longreach already recording 8.4mm of rain since 9am, Townsville 12.4mm and the Sunshine Coast Airport receiving 36.6mm.

It comes as a man in Mount Isa was rescued last night, after being forced to cling to reeds in floodwaters for 30 minutes.
