Hawai’i Tourism Oceania, in partnership with Hawaiian Airlines, Capella Hotels and Resorts (Sydney’s ), Australian Society of Travel Writers and TravMedia, recently hosted ASTW’s pre- lunch. Over 85 ASTW media and PR members enjoyed an incredible lunch as well as updates from the airline and Hawai’i Tourism Oceania. It was a great way to kick off ASTW’s 50th year.

New York City Tourism + Conventions recently hosted a group of agents on a famil beyond Midtown Manhattan in conjunction with Airlines!

After enjoying the comfort of Economy Plus on United, the group spent their first two nights in Brooklyn, where they experienced a half day foodie tour of Brooklyn and DUMBO with and featured some French pastries, pizza and whoopie pies!

Agents were also treated to a tour of the with rooftop drinks, an evening at Edge, an evening on Broadway watching Back to the Future, a private tour of and were also able to experience the newly opened Sky-lift at the as well as a sombre guided tour of the & Museum.

The group enjoyed accommodation at , Meatpacking and Hotel.

Hotel site inspections at and in Williamsburg gave the agents a new found awareness of some trendy neighbourhoods they can suggest clients to stay in the future. The group also inspected some newly renovated rooms at in the very family friendly feel of the Upper West Side.

The Hawai’i Tourism Oceania team recently wrapped up another successful Month of Lei roadshow in Australia and New Zealand which featured representatives from the visitor bureaus of Kaua‘i, O‘ahu, Maui, and Hawai‘i Island.

Month of Lei is the organisation’s signature campaign, designed to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Hawaiian Islands, highlight the unique characteristics of each island, and engage trade partners and consumers alike.

Following a series of events in Australia to celebrate the resumption of South African Airways’ (SAA) popular nonstop service between Johannesburg and Perth, New Zealand based trade partners and media guests recently enjoyed an evening at Auckland’s Administration House.

The evening, which was co-hosted by South African Airways, highlighted the new route and how it benefits the South African tourism industry, the impending Air New Zealand code share, as well as SAA is celebrating their 90th birthday.

The route currently operates three times per week on the A340-300.

After a four-year break, Monday 29 April marked the resumption of South African Airways’ (SAA) popular nonstop service between Johannesburg and Perth. This inaugural direct flight was honoured with several activities including celebrations for arriving and departing passengers at Perth Airport and events for trade partners and media guests cohosted by South African Tourism in Perth and Sydney. The route currently operates three times per week on the A340-300. Perth is SAA’s second intercontinental route to be relaunched after São Paulo.

Last week Hawaiʻi Tourism Oceania took a group of travel agents from Australia and New Zealand to the islands of O‘ahu, Maui and Lāna‘i to participate in a famil. As part of our visit, we were privileged to share in a mālama regeneration experience at Gunstock Ranch where we each planted a tree in honour of a loved one. These trees are tracked, and their progress documented for the planter to see how they develop in the future.

The Hawaiian concept of mālama means to ‘take care of’, and HTO were also in Hawai‘i with NZ environmental non-profit Sea Cleaners and a group of youth leaders from Australia and New Zealand learning about the importance of taking care of our oceans, particularly around the issue of plastic waste that is affecting the Pacific Ocean and the sea life that inhabits it.

The Royal Commission for AlUla is proud to announce the birth of two Arabian leopard cubs in what marks a significant milestone in saving the critically endangered species.

The Arabian Leopard's habitat, which formerly spanned the Arabian Peninsula and reached into the Levant, is now restricted to three countries; Saudi Arabia, Oman and Yemen. RCU's captive breeding program and conservation initiatives aim to restore the population and prepare a suitable habitat so that the leopards can thrive in the wilderness one again.

Etihad Airlines are proud to have been awarded Environmental Airline of the Year for 2022 in the Airline Excellence Awards. This is just the start of their journey in transforming the aviation industry and changing the future of flying for good.

Etihad plans, by 2050, to achieve net zero emissions. That means that for any emissions they produce, the same amount will be removed from the atmosphere. That’s a big statement, but they have got even bigger plans to achieve it.

They pledge to reach a 20% reduction in emissions intensity by 2025, and by 2035, they aim to have cut 2019 net emissions by 50%.
