Maersk has announced a temporary emergency bunker surcharge (EBS) as fuel prices surge following the conflict involving Iran.

According to Reuters, the surcharge aims to maintain service stability as the situation has created “substantial disruptions in global fuel supply chains.”

The fee will apply globally from 25 March, with charges of US$200 for 20-foot containers and US$400 for 40-foot containers, reviewed every 14 days depending on fuel availability and market conditions.

Due to flash flooding and significant infrastructure damage, the ARTC track between Broken Hill and Crystalbrook is currently closed.

As a result, Aurizon services between Sydney and Perth will temporarily operate via Melbourne. Current estimates indicate that the track will remain closed for a minimum of two weeks.

At MoveIt4u, we are actively monitoring the situation and working with carriers to minimise disruption and maintain service continuity.
