🚢 That $500 onboard credit might not actually be free…

Cruise lines LOVE a good promotion.

“BOOK NOW & RECEIVE $500 ONBOARD CREDIT!” 💰

Sounds great, right?

Sometimes it absolutely is.

But here’s something I always recommend checking before getting excited about the extra spending money:

👉 What’s the price WITHOUT the onboard credit?

Cruise lines can have multiple fares available for exactly the same sailing and cabin.

For example:

Cruise fare with $500 OBC: $4,799

Standard cruise fare: $4,499

You’re technically getting $500 to spend onboard…

But you’ve paid an extra $300 to get it.

So the real additional value to you is only $200.

That doesn’t automatically make the OBC offer bad — especially if you know you’ll spend the money onboard anyway — but it’s important to compare the total value of the offer, not just the biggest number in the promotion.

Whenever you see bonus onboard credit, bonus inclusions or a flashy cruise sale, ask:

“What’s the standard fare without the promotion?”

Sometimes the promotional fare wins.

Sometimes the standard fare wins.

And sometimes there are completely different fare options that work out even better for how you travel.

A good deal isn’t always the one with the biggest SALE banner attached to it. 😉

Compare the actual value.

That’s one of the things I do when I’m looking at cruise options for my clients — because I’d rather find you the right fare than simply the best-looking promotion.

🇨🇦🏔️ This is the kind of itinerary I LOVE putting together.

I’ve just finished building an incredible 18-day Canada & Alaska journey for some clients, and I’m a little jealous of this one…

🚆 Rocky Mountaineer in GoldLeaf through the Canadian Rockies
🏔️ An incredible APT coach & land journey through Western Canada
🛳️ Holland America Line sailing Alaska’s Inside Passage — from a balcony, of course
✈️ Return Business Class flights from Sydney to Vancouver
🌲 Mountains, glaciers, wildlife, incredible scenery and some of the most beautiful parts of Canada & Alaska all rolled into one trip.

Canada & Alaska is one of my absolute favourite holidays to put together because there are SO many ways to do it — and getting the order, rail, touring, cruise and flights right can completely change the experience.

And GoldLeaf on Rocky Mountaineer? If you’re going all that way… 😍

This is exactly why I love what I do. Taking a bucket-list idea and turning it into one seamless holiday where everything works together.

If Canada & Alaska has been sitting on your bucket list, send me a message. I could talk about this part of the world all day 😂

✈️ 5 travel mistakes I see people make ALL the time — and some of them can cost you thousands.

After working in travel for the last couple of years, there are a few things I wish more people knew before booking a holiday…

1️⃣ Assuming booking everything separately is always cheaper.
Sometimes it is. Sometimes packaging flights, hotels, cruises or touring together can unlock completely different pricing.

2️⃣ Choosing the cheapest flight without looking at the connection.
Saving $150 suddenly doesn’t feel so clever when you’ve got an awful overnight layover, separate tickets or an airport change thrown in. 😅

3️⃣ Buying travel insurance AFTER something goes wrong.
Insurance isn’t just for while you’re overseas. Depending on the policy and circumstances, cancellation cover can be incredibly important before you’ve even left Australia.

4️⃣ Automatically booking the cheapest cruise cabin.
Cabin location matters. A LOT. What’s above you, below you and nearby can be the difference between a great night’s sleep and listening to chairs being dragged around at 5am. 😂

5️⃣ Planning the itinerary before checking how practical it actually is.
Just because Google Maps says two places are close doesn’t mean they’re easy to combine into one trip.

A good holiday isn’t just about finding the cheapest price.

It’s about spending your money in the right places and avoiding the expensive mistakes.

That’s a big part of what I do as a travel advisor — and I’ll be sharing plenty more of the things I’ve learned here.

🌴 DESTINATION SPOTLIGHT: NOUMÉA 🇳🇨

Dreaming of an overwater bungalow… but don’t quite have Maldives money? 👀

Let me introduce you to one of my favourite little South Pacific finds — DoubleTree by Hilton Nouméa Îlot Maître Resort.

Just a short boat ride from Nouméa, you’ll find yourself on a tiny tropical island surrounded by crystal-clear lagoon water, with your very own overwater bungalow. 🌊

And yes… you can literally step straight from your private deck into the lagoon.

🐢 One of the absolute highlights? Swimming and snorkelling with turtles right below and around your bungalow.

I’ve sent numerous clients here over the years and the feedback has been fantastic. It’s one of those holidays that looks like you’ve flown halfway across the world — when in reality, Nouméa is only around a 3-hour flight from Sydney. ✈️

For couples looking for that romantic overwater experience, I think it’s a seriously underrated alternative to places like the Maldives.

And the best part?

💰 Depending on your dates, packages can come in UNDER $10,000 for TWO people for a week, including flights and that incredible overwater bungalow experience.*

No 15-hour journey.
No Maldives-sized price tag.
Just a little slice of paradise practically in our backyard. 🌴🐢

Would you stay here?

Drop a 🐢 in the comments if I should put together a sample Nouméa overwater bungalow package!

✈️ Welcome to Travel with Corey! 🌏

New name, fresh look — but the same person behind your holidays.

For those who don’t know me yet, I’m Corey. I’m 23, I’ve spent the last three years working as a travel agent, quickly progressing into senior and leadership roles — and I’m incredibly proud to have been named a CLIA Rising Star finalist two years running. 🚢

But my love for travel started long before I ever made a career out of it.

I’ve been travelling since I was 3 years old and now have 30+ cruises under my belt, so when I’m talking about ships, destinations and what actually makes a great holiday, there’s a good chance I’m speaking from experience.

And while I LOVE a good cruise, some of my favourite trips to build are the complicated ones.

🇨🇦 Canada & Alaska, including rail, touring and cruise combinations
🇿🇦 South Africa adventures
🐧 Antarctica
🇪🇺 Multi-country European journeys
🚢 Domestic & international cruising
🌏 And those big bucket-list holidays where everything needs to fit together just right

My personal favourite destinations? Hawaii and South Korea. 🌺🇰🇷

My most recent international adventure took me through South Africa, and next up I’ll be heading to Japan. 🇯🇵

But the best part of this job isn’t just booking holidays.

It’s the people.

I genuinely love getting to know my clients, hearing about their adventures when they get home and building relationships that continue from one holiday to the next.

That’s what Travel with Corey is going to be about.

I’ll be sharing travel inspiration, deals worth knowing about, tips and tricks I’ve picked up along the way, destinations you may never have considered, my own adventures and plenty of behind-the-scenes travel knowledge.

And, of course, I’ll still be doing what I love most — helping people turn an idea into a holiday they’ll remember forever.

So whether you’re planning your first cruise, an Antarctic expedition, a huge European adventure or you simply want to talk travel…

🌍 GREAT NEWS FOR TRAVELLERS 🇦🇪

The Australian Government has lowered its travel advice for the United Arab Emirates to Level 3 – Reconsider Your Need to Travel.

This is a positive step forward and welcome news for travellers with plans to visit or transit through Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the UAE.

Travel conditions can change quickly, but right now we're seeing more confidence return to one of the world's most popular aviation and holiday hubs.

So perhaps it's time to stop waiting for the perfect moment and start planning the next adventure. ✈️

Whether it's a stopover in Dubai, a European holiday, a cruise, or that bucket-list trip you've been dreaming about, let's get travelling again.

✈️ One of the biggest travel mistakes I see? Booking based on price alone.

I get it — you jump online, see a flight for $499 return and think “that’s a steal.” 👀

But here’s what people often don’t realise…

What does that fare actually include?

❌ Checked baggage or just carry-on?
❌ Seat selection or random middle seat?
❌ Meals?
❌ Changeable if life happens?
❌ Credit if you need to cancel?
❌ Any refund options at all?
❌ Long stopovers or terrible flight times hidden in the itinerary?

Sometimes the “cheap” option becomes the expensive option once you add baggage, seat selection, airport transfers, hotel add-ons, or last-minute change fees.

And it’s not just flights…

That “cheap hotel” might be:
🏨 Miles away from everything
💰 Charging resort fees on arrival
🚕 Costing a fortune in taxis every day
🍽️ Missing breakfast, drinks, or inclusions

Sometimes spending a little more upfront can completely change the trip.

I’m a huge believer in looking at overall value, not just the cheapest number on a screen. The best holiday isn’t always the cheapest one — it’s the one where everything actually works smoothly.

Curious… what’s one thing you’ll always spend extra on when travelling?
✈️ Better flights
🛏️ Hotel upgrade
🍸 Food & drinks
🚢 Experiences/excursions
😴 Comfort/convenience

🚢 Cruise lovers — settle a debate for me 👀

What matters MOST when choosing a cruise?

⚓ The ship itself
🌍 The destinations
🍽️ Food & dining
🛏️ The room/balcony
🎭 Entertainment
💰 Best value

No wrong answers — I’ve seen some people choose a cruise purely because they LOVE the ship, while others only care about where they’re waking up each day 😂

What’s your pick?
