You will settle into your home on still waters before the first bend in the canal. After a briefing from our staff you will glide off, at ease, steering your boat. Share the fun of piloting the penichette, with young and old alike. Otherwise swim, cycle (for hire from our base), fish, read, sunbathe, explore, picnic, nap, draw, meet fellow bargers or simply allow the French countryside to embrace you. In the mornings, ride or walk along the path to the local village and buy fresh, warm bread and croissants for breakfast. In the afternoon sit on deck in the dappled light and in the evenings take in the spectacle of the starry night skies. Your comfort is guaranteed - a fully appointed kitchen, all linen supplied, hot showers, ample storage space and navigational charts. Top up the fresh water tanks at locks and villages. Have fun negotiating the many locks, enjoy riding the changing water levels, chat to the lock-keeper and perhaps buy fresh vegetables from his garden. Cruising along the picturesque canals and rivers of France on a luxury private hotel-barge is a unique experience with the opportunity to discover wonderful countryside, charming villages, lively markets and many historical treasures along magnificent French waterways. Hotel barges are comfortable and often luxury vessels. They carry between 2 to 20 passengers, all of whom enjoy the celebration of French gourmet food and locally grown wines whilst exploring the countryside in this most relaxing form of travel. Cruises are usually all inclusive: gourmet cuisine, an open bar, excursions ashore to vineyards and chateaux, the use of bicycles and other hotel barge facilities such as a spa pool. Most Cruises last for 7 days with 6 nights on board departing on Sunday afternoon* and finishing on Saturday morning. (*A few boats starts on Saturday and spome propose 4 or 6 day-cruise).
