Esperance to Marrickville.

The decision was made to get home asap. for a few reasons, but mainly we had run out of money.

We drove from Esperance to The SA border and free camped on the side of the road. It was pretty cold but the fire was toasty.

The next morning we had a very early start to cross The Nullarbor and see the Great Australian Bite. It was a long day but it felt like a rite of passage to drive this road.

We parked ourselves in Port Augusta for the night, having officially completed a half-lap,back at the beginning of the Stuart Highway.

Another early morning travelling to Hay. Spending the last night of our holiday in the same hotel we spent our first night, was a nice symmetry.

Finally, an 8 hour drive back to Marrickville. Margot could not contain her excitement for the trip.

Am I happy to be home? Sort of. I would love to keep going but the house has never looked so big and comfortable and clean ❤️

Now we are home, the hard work begins!

The beginning of the end.

Perth & Rottnest Island.

Perth and Fremantle were ok. Seeing a city from a caravan park 20ks out of town is not really the way to see a city.

Our day in a Fremantle was pretty good. We went to the shipwreck museum and saw what is left of the Batavia, which was pretty cool and walked around for the day.

We spent another day at the botanical gardens, which were stunning. A must see in Perth.

The highlight by far was our trip to Rottnest Island. The kids say this was their favourite place on the holiday! The quokkas were simply adorable and everywhere! We biked, walked and took a bizillion photos of quokkas. It’s a bit cold still but the beaches are stunning and I would love to come back just to go snorkelling around the island.

We left Rottnest early this morning and are now heading home ☹️. 2 nights in Esperance to start. We have no clean clothes or un**es so must do a couple of loads before we really get going.

See you when we get back!

The Turquoise Coast.

Cervantes

Arriving wet and tired, the motel was a nice relief. We’ve watched a tonn of TV and have gone on a small adventure into Jurien Bay and The Pinnacles.

In better weather, Jurien Bay would be magic! Even in overcast weather the water was the most stunning turquoise green.

This afternoon we walked the 4km track through The Pinnacles. It was totally surreal and stunning.

Tomorrow we are off to Perth and then Rottnest Island which is pretty much the end of the journey before we skip across the Nullarbor. I’m already getting a bit sad that it will soon be over 😕

Lots of Penny poses in this post
