Why do traffic controllers sometimes stop traffic when nothing appears to be happening? It's one of the questions we're asked most often.
Just because you can't see the hazard doesn't mean it isn't there.
- It could be a reversing concrete truck.
- A crane lifting overhead.
- Workers just around a blind corner.
- Pedestrians crossing through an active work zone.
Traffic controllers aren't just directing vehicles. They're managing risks that drivers often can't see.
The next time you're asked to stop, remember there's usually a very good reason.
Together, we can help everyone get home safely.
