Finally home after an epic journey across 3 states travelling a total of 7636km in a $1200 Kia Rio in 20days

What a wild experience the Sh*tbox Rally is. As quickly as you hit the lush tropics of Port Douglas, you soon meet the changing landscape of road trains, small country towns, corrugated roads and stunning river crossings now churned up by the 186 Rally cars passing through.

He’s a recap of Day 1 Port Douglas to The Oasis Roadhouse where we jumped straight into the dirt, dust and water leaving those once shiny sh*tboxes at the start line.

What an incredible day! This Day 6 recap sums it up and more! Who would have thought our two wheel drive Kia Rio, Sh*tbox would be winding through the Vic high country on some very questionable roads and in darkness. We did it and so glad we made it to the iconic Dargo pub.

Day 6 and we just left foggy and chilly

When we thought we’d done well in the tuff dirt days the chilly morning of 0 deg had other ideas for some of the cars in our group. Flat battery for the The Kennel - Autumn Sh*tbox Rally 2026, wet spark plugs for the and a squeeky belt and lost nut in the engine bay for Peggy. Lucky we were going to be that very last group out anyway.

Taking it very easy with the thick fog as we hit 399km of sealed roads then the final 64km unsealed as we drive through Vic high country into Dargo to set up camp for our final night 🌙🌚

Have picked the other 1/2 of Team Totally Pawsome up from Cairns airport early this morning then it was a quick drop in to Bob Jane to sort our tyre swap. Happy for the older tyres to shred over the newer ones.

Bit of a windy day yesterday had little Peggy blowing about but thankfully from behind pushing us further north to Sarina!

The bumpy Bruce Hwy nearly claimed one of our spare tyres but with my own personal support car Cooper Thistleton we were tied down and back on the road in no time!

Time to hit the road for day 3, stoping in Mackay for a couple of supplies then onwards to Bowen 🥭

💚💚It’s the end, end of the EOFY… and we’re just days away from hitting the road! 🚗💨

This Sunday, 5th July, Peggy our mighty Sh*tbox will be on her maiden drive to Port Douglas to begin our Sh*tbox Rally adventure on the 11th July. Yes, we’re 2 months late but we are so ready and can’t wait!
