For those that still think the NHVR is a Private business they are NOT their Government.( see below )
The NHVR (National Heavy Vehicle Regulator) is a government statutory body.
It was established by the Australian Government to administer the Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and regulate heavy vehicles over 4.5 tonnes GVM in participating Australian states and territories.
The NHVR works alongside state and territory road and enforcement agencies.
Note: Western Australia and the Northern Territory operate outside the main NHVR/HVNL frame
The NHVR is primarily funded through heavy vehicle registration charges collected by the participating state and territory governments. A portion of those registration charges—the regulatory component—is passed to the NHVR to fund its operations.
It also receives:
* Fees and charges for services such as accreditation and permits
* Commonwealth (Australian Government) grants for specific programs and projects, such as heavy vehicle safety initiatives.
