A good article here worth a read: It’s a cruel cycle the way the world works right now. We might not have bombs falling over our heads, but many people are dealing with a different kind of pressure, the mental strain of wondering if they can keep their business running, keep people employed, and provide for their families.

When diesel goes up, transport costs go up.
When transport costs go up, freight goes up.
When freight goes up, the cost of everyday goods goes up.
And who feels it the most? Families already doing it tough.

The frustrating part is that many small businesses are out here trying to do the right thing, paying staff properly, maintaining equipment, following regulations yet the margins keep getting squeezed tighter and tighter.

It becomes a bit of a roundabout mess where everyone is working harder just to stand still. Respect to the operators, drivers and small businesses out there grinding through it every day. 🚛💨

In a hard-hitting video message to industry and government today, Craig said many transport businesses would simply be unable to absorb such a dramatic increase in fuel costs.

✔ Safe driving skills & RMS printout at the interview

✔ RIW Licence preferred but not required
✔ Seeking long-term employment

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Brian Woods on Tuesday morning at 8 AM. Brian had been with our company for decades, dating back to the days of JJ Woods & Sons, RMB Crane Trucks, and Blueline Transport, long before we became Reach Crane Trucks & BTS Transport. If the surname didn’t give it away, Brian was the father of Shane Woods and an irreplaceable part of our team.

This news comes as a huge shock. Brian had been quietly battling illness but, in true fashion, never made a fuss about it. Those who knew him will remember his selflessness; always willing to lend a hand, occasionally getting grumpy at the drivers (though rarely to their faces), and keeping things to himself.

He was an absolute workhorse, showing up rain, hail, or shine, always proving he was the toughest mechanic around. No matter how many times we suggested he take it easy and ride off into the sunset, he just kept going.

Saying someone is “part of the furniture” is a cliché, but in Brian’s case, it couldn’t be more true.

We grieve alongside the Woods family and will be closing our doors from 12 PM this Thursday as a mark of respect. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Our trucks will still be running for half the day because, knowing Brian, he’d hate for too much fuss to be made in his name and would probably tell us all to get back to work.

We will resume responding to emails and calls on Friday morning. Thank you for your understanding during this difficult time.
