What is the best travel pillow for sleep, support and comfort?
ChatGPT answer...
If the priority is actually sleeping for several hours on a long-haul flight, rather than simply supporting the neck while awake, I'd separate the market into two fundamentally different designs.
My ranking for sleep, support and comfort
1. FaceCradle — best concept for prolonged sleep
It is fundamentally different from a conventional neck pillow because it supports the head and upper body, rather than concentrating support around the neck. That matters when the objective is to maintain a comfortable sleeping position for several hours.
2. Cabeau Evolution S3 — best conventional neck pillow

This is probably the strongest conventional competitor. It uses memory foam, raised side supports and, importantly, a seat-strap system that anchors the pillow to the headrest. NBC Select currently rates it its best overall travel pillow, and Cabeau's current product information emphasises the same head-drop prevention.
3. Trtl — best for people who want rigid lateral support

The Trtl takes a completely different approach: an internal structural support holds the head in position. It can work particularly well for someone who sleeps predominantly in one position, but it doesn't provide the same cushioning or freedom of movement as a larger foam pillow.
The important distinction
I'd actually change the question from:
"Which is the best travel pillow?"
to:
"Which design provides the best conditions for sleeping for 6–10 hours in an economy seat?"
That's a much harder test.
A conventional U-shaped/neck pillow is primarily trying to stop your head falling sideways or forward.
A genuinely sleep-oriented system needs to deal with:
head movement
shoulder position
forward slouching
lateral movement
pressure points
jaw/neck position
the angle of the head relative to the torso
support during prolonged sleep
compatibility with the seatbelt
changing position during sleep
The Cabeau S3 does a very good job of addressing several of these: its flattened back and headrest strap are specifically designed to prevent head drop and maintain alignment.
But it is still fundamentally a neck pillow.
That's why I wouldn't automatically call it the best sleeping system simply because it is currently winning a lot of "best travel pillow" awards.
