Red Envelopes/Pockets 🧧 {红包;Hong Bao}
This tradition began in the Han dynasty, using small collectibles such as coins to ward off any evil spirits. Such coins were then wrapped in red paper, evolving into our now red pockets.
Nowadays, couples who are married must give out red pockets to the younger generation to symbolise good luck and prosperity for the Chinese New Year.
New Year Scrolls/couplets 🧨 {对联;Dui Lian}
Scrolls placed around doorways and walls all have wishful and wise messages to symbolise and wish for good luck, Wealth, health and good things to people living or working where such scrolls are hung.
Red Chinese Lanterns 🏮 {灯笼;Deng Long}
Red Lanterns symbolise life and prosperous business in Chinese culture. Lanterns are often hung in pairs on either side of the doorways to guide the good spirits and luck home.
Peach Blossoms and Floral arrangements 🌸
