Another recovery job for one our clients last week!

This time, our diver Patrick went for a swim in Scarborough Marina Queensland Australia to go and retrieve this boat piece off our client’s fiberglass boat.

Why are your anodes important?

When your boat sits in the water, it’s constantly exposed to electrolysis and galvanic corrosion — two silent enemies that can eat away at your expensive metal components. That’s where sacrificial anodes come in.

⚓ What do anodes do?
Anodes are designed to corrode instead of critical metal parts like your propeller, shaft, trim tabs, and outdrive. They literally sacrifice themselves to protect the rest of your boat.

🔍 Why maintenance matters
If your anodes are worn down, covered in growth, or painted over, they can’t do their job properly. That means corrosion can start attacking the parts you actually care about — and those repairs aren’t cheap.

When we provide our inspection report we’ll take pictures of your anodes and can advise on when they might need replacing.

We can’t tell you who it is and we can’t share the boat name, but we can show you his bottom!

We recently had a customer haul their boat out of the water, and from the amount of marine growth on its hull they'd mistakenly accused us of not giving it a proper clean back in January.

Luckily for us, we always provide a full vessel condition report along with photos. These are sent to the customer on the same day.

The pictures shared here (just a mere 8 weeks later) highlight just how much marine growth can actually accumulate in such a short period of time.

This is why we can't stress enough having a regular maintenance schedule to ensure you maximise the longevity of your vessel!

As we count down to the Gladstone Ports Corporation Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, let’s take a closer look at the course that challenges crews year after year.

The fleet sets sail two nautical miles east of Shorncliffe Pier, beginning a 308-nautical-mile journey through Moreton Bay and up into the ever changing waters of the Coral Sea, finishing in Gladstone.

Some of the bigger and faster yachts will complete the course in just 24 hours, while smaller boats can take up to three days, making it a true test of endurance, seamanship and strategy.
