More than 50 years on the water
The Draeger family has been part of the Gold Coast marine industry since 1971.
Danny Draeger began as a marine technician with Keith Hunter Outboard Service at McLaren Marine, Main Beach, back in 1971. Over the following decades Danny worked throughout the Gold Coast marine industry, including Paradise Point Marine, Neil Hancock Marine and Sundays on the Bay before establishing Danny Draeger Marine.
In 1993, Danny and his son Jason began working together. Jason had entered the industry at just 16 years of age.
In the following years Jason later worked with Mariners Mate Marine in Main Beach, before joining the 2 Extrem ski racing team full-time in 1998, beginning many successful years in the high-performance boating industry including building engines for Formula 1 power boat teams claiming two Australian Titles.
In 2010, Jason joined Telwater, working across some of Australia’s best-known marine brands and progressing into the company’s management team. His career included national sales and account management roles across brands including Quintrex, Stacer, Savage and Yellow Fin.
In 2021, Jason left Telwater and started Gold Coast Outboards, bringing the Draeger name back to its roots — marine servicing, performance and keeping boats on the water.
Today Jason and Rebecca Draeger run the business which as grown now into sales service and repairs of Outboards and Sterndrive engines.
They have also launched their own brand of boats, GC Inflatables.
The growth and success of the business is also contributed to the knowledge and skill set of their staff members.
