🐟 Arrow's Seafood of the Week
Blue Grenadier - Macruronus novaezelandiae

Blue Grenadier probably isn't the first fish that catches your eye. With its distinctive blue-grey skin, large eyes and long, slender body, it's a little quirky looking - but don't let appearances fool you.

Also known as Hoki, Blue Grenadier is a deep-water species found in the cool waters of southern Australia and New Zealand. It's one of the most important commercial fish in our region and is widely recognised as a well-managed, sustainable seafood choice.

Its flesh is beautifully white with a mild flavour and a soft, delicate flake. That delicate texture is why it's so often served in batter - the batter helps hold those lovely flakes together during cooking.

Last night, however, Eugene showed that Blue Grenadier doesn't need batter to shine. A light dusting of flour, gently shallow fried until just cooked, then served with a stir-fry of bok choy, spinach and red capsicum finished with a spoonful of sour cream.

Simple. Fresh. Absolutely delicious.
Blue Grenadier is a great reminder that some of the best seafood doesn't have to be expensive.

Although this week's fresh display may be a little smaller, the quality within remains exceptional.

Our standout this week is these beautiful Flathead – exceptionally large, plump fillets with firm, delicate flesh. Flathead might not win any beauty contests, but ask Australians about their favourite eating fish and it's guaranteed to be near the top of the list. They're a wonderfully versatile fish with a mild, sweet flavour that's equally at home pan-fried, grilled or lightly battered.

We also have King Dory, Mirror Dory, Hapuka, Alfonsino, Atlantic Salmon & XL Coffin Bay Oysters fresh in store and as always, our freezers are fully stocked with all of your local favourites.

Our display is absolutely brimming with the ocean's bounty this week! 🌊🐟

Taking centre stage are our XL Coffin Bay Oysters – plump, fresh and absolutely delicious.

We also have sashimi-grade New Zealand King Salmon, and after giving it the official Vosloo family taste test last night, we can confidently say it's outstanding! The salmon was a huge success... our sushi-making skills, however, still need a little more practice! πŸ˜„

A big thank you to the Zeehan crew for another beautiful supply of Orange Roughy, with plenty available in our fresh display and freezers.

We've also received beautiful fresh King Dory, Mirror Dory, Flathead, Pink Ling, Blue Grenadier and Ocean Perch - with thanks to the Lady Miriam crew.

Some mornings preparing our fresh seafood are better than others... and today was one of them! 🐟

We couldn't resist sampling the New Zealand King Salmon when it arrived this morning, and honestly... We didn't want to leave any for our customers! πŸ˜„
It was everything you'd hope for – incredibly clean, rich, buttery and absolutely worth every dollar.
