We are a non-asset based Integrator who assembles the resources, plans capabilities and technologies of its own or other organisations to design, build and run comprehensive supply chain solutions. With our selected global alliance partners we have built a strong and reliable network to cater for all service and market requirements through all transport modes. In 1983 when Dean commenced business,

import and export as it was called was so different. In a largely manufacturing environment, the focus was on High Import Duties, Tariff Protection, Import Quotas and a complicated Customs System. Dean was born into this environment with heavy emphasis on Customs Clearance and tariff matters as well as obtaining Import Quota for clients in the TCF (Textile, Clothing and Footwear Industries). Shipping lines were kings and rates were very high compared to today. It was in these early days that Dean developed a strong rapport with the TCF Industry which lead us to working with many leading specialty retailers and wholesalers. A strong sense of speaking their language developed, which enabled us to look after their needs and develop more sophisticated reporting and ultimately value added services offshore. The emphasis across the board switched from the Australian end of high tariffs etc, to a low tariff environment and a relatively simple Customs procedures. Shipping lines and airlines became more competitive and information was suddenly transparent with the introduction of the internet. This has become more so with information readily available across many mediums. Fast forward to 2014 and the entire supply chain is open to everyone with a smart phone. Dean have evolved into a 4PL, harnessing resources, capability and technology into providing true ‘International Trade Facilitation’ to its many customers. Dean have made the transition and in fact are more than ready for the next generation of companies and individuals who run them.

We’re proud to announce that John Stathopoulos, our CEO, has become a part-owner of DEAN.

John first joined DEAN in 2015 and has been instrumental in transforming our operations and service delivery. His leadership and commitment have been central to DEAN’s growth and success. With over 23 years of experience across supply chain, logistics, and customs brokerage, including 17 years as a licensed customs broker and tariff consultant, John brings deep expertise and clear direction to the business.

As both CEO and part-owner, John continues to lead DEAN with a focus on growth, agility, and excellence.

Leading with purpose.
This October, the Dean World Cargo team stepped up to take part in CEO Dare to Cure 2025 — a bold initiative uniting business leaders across Australia to raise funds for childhood cancer research.

John and Erkan braved the Ice Bath Challenge, while Nick Hales, Travis Philp, Silvina Moyano, Rachael Marcy, Paul Nowak, and Andrew Carlile took on the Extreme Fitness Challenge, together raising $4,033 to help find a cure for kids’ cancer.

It was a day of teamwork, courage, and community — proving that when leaders come together, we can make a real difference.
