At North Coast Charters during 2026 Our focus will shift from offering General Charters to providing Vintage / Classic / Retro Buses for Special Events only (Ie Weddings, School Formals) around Port Macquarie and the NSW Mid North Coast. We currently only operate with 1x 57 Seat Bus affectionately known as "Vinnie the Volvo". We are fully Accredited with Transport for NSW, Our Accreditation Numbe

Let’s do this, Next Stop Gladstone for a Wedding run. It’s going to be a bit of a late one, Not that it bothers Us. As in the 6 - 8 hours between runs, We typically park near the venue somewhere where there’s facilities (ie toilets, Shops etc). We then break out the camp mat, Snacks and iPad and We set ourselves up down the back of Vivian the Volvo, Watch a bit of YouTube or Prime and have a Nap so it’s not like we’re working a 12 - 16 hour day. It’s more like a 8 hour split shift which is well within our 12 hour “Work” day.

The suns finally out, So today’s job was to give Vivian’s interior a bit of a scrub up now that we’re not ankle deep in puddles and mud out on runs. And yes the eagle eyed person will notice Vivian’s nosed into her spot rather then backed in, If you look closely out the left rearmost window you’ll see how close to the river We really are. The next major expense on the list is new batteries. As the ones in Vivian are from mid 2023 and are starting to get a bit Meh and not liking the cold starts, But once running she runs like a champ.

Today with a break in the non stop rain of the past couple of Weeks, We found ourselves back at one of our favourite local Wedding Venues. Although this afternoon after dropping the Guests off, We had a bit of a Moment. As the bulk of them on board came up from Melbourne, So for a brief time it was like Vivian the Volvo was back doing her thing back in Melbourne as a young bus.

Let’s Do this, Vivian the Volvo’s rego done. Now time to do a nice short local run in Bonny hills and Lake Cathie, Can’t complain about the view either. All we need is a week of dry weather so we can get under Vivian and change her filters, After all We’ve got to look after the old gal.

Where has the time gone? On this day 2 years ago being the 17th of May 2024, We took delivery of Vivian the Volvo from Transdev down in Blacktown. We then drove her the 400km north home to Port Macquarie, We’ve only put around 11,000km on her in those 2 years. But We’ve officially operated her longer then Vinnie the Volvo our original bus Which we only had in service for 18 month / 6000km before the engine gave out at 1.6 million Kay’s (went pop at 80kmh and ate its own oil and coolant).

And that’s us back at one of Our favourite local Wedding Venues. Although this morning hasn’t been without its challenge...

And that’s us back at one of Our favourite local Wedding Venues. Although this morning hasn’t been without its challenges, One thing though is Vivian’s probably thinking shes back in Melbourne. On the trip down One minute it was raining, The next it was sunny. Then back to Rain and wind, Back to overcast and now the suns trying to come out.

Ok Vivian the e Volvo, It’s time to stop playing in the Mud We’ve got a Wedding Charter to do. Trying to keep the old girl clean is one of those constant jobs, It’s still a long way off yet. But one day just one day, We’re hoping to get a small warehouse / office space to consolidate everything into one place. As our current setup is working fine, It’d just be nice having everything in one spot. But that’s still a couple of years off yet, As the plan is to ride out the first 5 years of operation and go from there having 5 years of data to seniors be financially viable to have a small warehouse / yard.

One HVIS done, Despite the batteries choosing the most appropriate time to leave the chat being mid inspection. Thankfully we had our 12/24v jumper pack (Autobarn 2800 amp VJS2800 SKU 211217 for $349 if anyone’s interested, Starts Mumma bears little Nissan Tiida right up to Vivian no issues). The inspector saw the funny side to it, But all said and done only got pulled up on a faint / Blown front left indicator which is an easy fix. But for a 33 year old gal with the best part of 2 million Kay’s, A simple $5 bulb / faded lense is nothing and a quick fix.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing Mothers out there, Todays your day to be Pampered. As We look back through the years as “Kids” We give them several proud moments and several What the fudge are you up to now moments, Or in My case Mumma bear going what’s that little crotch goblin semen demen doing now. Yes now I may also be Mumma Bears Disability Carer thanks to a work related Accident alongside running the business. But it’s moments where we can jump on a cruise sit back and relax, It’s those special moment with family that outweigh the down or the What the fudges. As this who’ve met Us see the subdued chilled version of Us, If you want to know how full Mumma bear had her hands with me. Just think of this little ADHD gremlin that got Drunk at 2 years old because I figured out the wine casket in the fridge, Got expelled from pre school and more events like that growing up. Even now as a 39 year old Mumma Bear just sits there and still gets the WTF look on her face. But one couldn’t be any prouder of growing up with a Single Mum that put 2 kids through a private School in the lower blue mountains and injured her self while working to do so and a roof over our heads and food on the table. It’s those sacrifices We as “Kids” need to be more appreciative of, As no matter how bad a day I’ve had there’s always been one person there right beside me to keep going and that’s Mumma Bear. Happy Mother’s Day to all those special mums out there.
