A busy couple months here is a couple things we have been doing !
1️⃣ Exmouth – Jetwave Jasmin | New Shafts, Props & Bearings
Quick trip to Exmouth after surveying to AMSA standards and collecting new shafts from Jetwave Marine.
Vessel had a history of vibration, so bearings were dry-fitted and machined to suit housings, checking for any tube misalignment before final installation.
Once glued in and shafts fitted, we carried out a full shaft alignment followed by sea trials.

2️⃣ Interference-Fit Coupling Conversion
Instead of machining a new coupling for a gearbox change, we produced a custom interference-fit fl**ge.
The fl**ge was machined directly on the vessel’s shaft to ensure absolute concentricity and driveline alignment.
Using controlled heating, the fl**ge was thermally expanded and pressed into the existing coupling to form an integrated assembly.
Once cooled naturally, we completed the weld using the machined weld-prep groove for additional structural strength.
A precise, cost-effective solution that avoids full coupling replacement.

3️⃣ Thomascraft 43 – Full Repower Integration
Repower on a 43’ Thomascraft including supply and installation of a new PSS seal, seal carrier, and exhaust system using the supplied mixer.
Completed the smaller but essential tasks: new fuel lines, wiring considerations, and the installation of a stern thruster unit.
Solid engine mounts were machined and adjusted to correctly position and level the new engine.
Final driveline alignment was completed to manufacturer tolerances, ensuring long-term reliability and correct shaft geometry under load.

4️⃣ Umbra – Routine Maintenance & Shaft System Overhaul
Umbra logs serious miles, so regular engineering oversight is essential.
This service interval included new seal kits through the Simplan seals, new shaft bearings, and a full driveline inspection due to the vessel’s high travel hours.
Stabilisers were also due for scheduled maintenance — each unit weighing over 2.5 tonnes, requiring specialist handling and attention
