FINALS FOOTY. JOB DONE.

Our Willagee Bears Women are through after a massive 20–12 win over reigning premiers, the Fremantle Roosters.

One challenge down, but the job isn’t finished.

Next up: Joondalup Giants in the Preliminary Final, with a spot in the 2026 Grand Final on the line.

Win that, and it’s the Ellenbrook Rabbitohs waiting on the biggest stage.

One game away. Time to earn it. 🐻🔥

🏆 FINALS FOOTY HAS ARRIVED! ❤️🖤

A massive weekend ahead for the Willagee Bears with four senior sides heading into Week One of the finals.

Our Women’s Tackle side gets things underway tonight at 8:00pm, taking on the Fremantle Roosters in an elimination final at Charlotte’s Vineyard Pavilion in Ellenbrook.

Then it’s back home to Webber Reserve on Saturday for a huge triple header:

🏉 Third Grade vs South Perth Lions | 12:40pm
🏉 Val Murphy Trophy vs North Beach Sea Eagles | 2:00pm
🏉 Men’s Premiership vs South Perth Lions | 3:30pm

And there’s another big part of the weekend. Our Heritage Jerseys are up for silent auction, with both the Men’s and Women’s jerseys available. Bidding starts at $200, with one jersey available per number.

Get your bids in and own a special piece of Bears history while supporting the club. Bids can be placed by private messaging ( Jess Frost )on 0423 194 602, or at the bar on Saturday. Bidding closes 2:00pm Saturday, with the winners announced at 3:00pm.

🎯 Riley Capewell — 66 points

An outstanding season from all three, with King Rashidi taking out both the try-scoring and points-scoring titles. Serious effort. 🔥

🎯 POINT SCORER
🐻 Te Putuangaanga Huriwai-Brown — 168 points | No. 1 in the competition

Two Bears sharing the title as the competition’s leading try scorers, while Te Putuangaanga finishes as the No. 1 overall points scorer. Huge efforts from all three across the regular season. 🔥

Now the numbers get put aside and the attention turns to finals footy.

What a regular season it’s been for our Willagee Bears First Grade side — finishing as Minor Premiers and producing some massive individual numbers along the way.

Three Bears inside the competition’s top three try scorers, alongside the No. 1 overall points scorer. Serious numbers from a First Grade side that has delivered all season.

Individual achievements built within a team that finished top of the table as Minor Premiers. Now the attention turns to the business end of the season.

🦁 A PIECE OF SOUTH PERTH HISTORY 🏉

Another gem from Shane Spells’ WA Rugby League Collection — a signed South Perth Lions jersey from around the 2000s era.

A pretty cool piece to showcase heading into this weekend’s massive qualifying final — 1st placed Willagee Bears vs 2nd placed South Perth Lions.

These were the two Grand Finalists last season, and once again they’ve finished at the pointy end of the competition in 2026.

Two powerhouse clubs. Plenty of history. And there’s every chance we could be getting a preview of another Grand Final matchup.

But first, there’s a qualifying final to be won.

🐻 1984 WILLAGEE BEARS — PLAYER JERSEY ❤️🖤

Another incredible piece of Willagee Bears history, courtesy of Shane Spells and his WA Rugby League Collection.

This is the real deal — an original player jersey from the 1984 season, carrying more than 40 years of Bears history.

Front and centre is the Mitsubishi sponsor logo, a local sponsor who backed the Bears during that era. A shoutout to Mitsubishi and all the local businesses that supported grassroots rugby league and helped keep clubs like Willagee going.

There’s something special about seeing an actual player jersey from that period still preserved today.

Massive thanks to Shane Spells for continuing to share his incredible collection and helping preserve the history of rugby league in Western Australia.

🏉 A PIECE OF WILLAGEE BEARS HISTORY — 1981 🐻❤️🖤

How good is this piece of WA Rugby League memorabilia from Shane Spells and the WA Rugby League Collection.

This is a 1981 Phil Harrison First Grade bag, with a pretty unique story behind it.

The bags were originally sent across to Willagee by the North Sydney Bears, complete with the North Sydney branding. Around 1981, Willagee then placed their own Willagee Bears logo directly over the top of the North Sydney Bears logo — creating a genuine piece of history connecting the two Bears clubs.

More than 40 years later, it’s incredible to see something like this still preserved.

These are the pieces that tell the story of rugby league in Western Australia — not just through jerseys and trophies, but through the everyday gear that travelled with the players and teams of the era.

Big thanks to Shane Spells for continuing to open up the collection and share these pieces with OUTWEST.

🏉 A PIECE OF WA RUGBY LEAGUE HISTORY 🔴⚫️

Catching up with Shane Spells and getting another look through his incredible WA Rugby League collection.

This time, Shane is showing me his Western Reds Foundation jersey — not a player-issued jersey, but a special piece given to Foundation Members ahead of the club’s entry into the competition.

This one carries the Limited Edition Foundation Member detailing from the 1994 season, making it a pretty special piece of Western Australian rugby league memorabilia.

These are the pieces I love seeing — jerseys that tell the story of where the game has come from in WA and the people who backed it from the beginning.
