Another rewarding day for the TSA team! 💙

Last Thursday our Personnel Manager Ashlee Harriss, Skardon River General Manager Todd Funch and Tow Tug Mate Ben Green had the pleasure of joining the 2026 Cairns Careers Expo organised by the Business Liaison Association .

This event is a special one as it attracts over 5,000 attendees from all over the Cairns region. It is always great being able to provide information for people considering a career in the marine industry, especially in places so close to our actual operations. Once again our activities were a big hit and it was great to see how engaged and excited these young people were to learn more and to imagine their future career paths.

Thank you to the organisers and attendees alike, we're excited to come back next year! 🙌

Some offices have better views than others…

This month's winning photo from our calendar competition, captured by Josh Batham, shows the TSA Trident towing an empty barge 3001 inbound, with the most beautiful sunset and full moon as the backdrop.

Work at site can be demanding and get pretty hectic from time to time, which makes moments like these even more enjoyable.

More than 60km covered and $3,600 raised.

Last Sunday a group from our Perth Office laced up for the annual HBF Run for a reason event. Together the TSA team covered more than 60km and and raised over $3,600 for Cancer Council WA.

The choice of charity for the team was an easy one as for many this cause is personal. Like so many people, TSA members have friends and family who have fought - and are still fighting cancer.

Beyond the fundraising it was just a really special opportunity for the team to spend the Sunday together outside of the office doing something meaningful. Well done everyone who raised money and showed up to run for a reason! 👟💙

When we heard the news about Lucy, it hit our whole team hard. Andy served as Chief Mate on Radiance and was with us when both his daughters were born. He remains a part of the TSA family through casual fill-ins and his connections to our crewmates on site.

The GoFundMe is so close to reaching its $50,000 goal. If you're able to give even a small amount, it truly makes a difference. 💙

Last week, we had the privilege of attending two high school careers fairs in Far North Queensland with Metro Mining.

On Tuesday we joined students at Tagai State College on Thursday Island, where we were proud to participate for the second time! For Wednesday our team headed to the Northern Peninsula Area Senior Campus in Bamaga, marking our fourth consecutive year of collaboration.

Both schools serve remote communities, and it was a genuine honour to spend time with students who are beginning to imagine their futures and explore the pathways available to them in the marine industry. It was wonderful to see so many students eagerly getting hands-on with the activities we had organised, from learning to tie different types of knots to working through an operations puzzle. This is a great reflection of the curiosity and enthusiasm these young people bring.

Events like these are a good reminder of how important it is to build connections with regional and remote communities ensuring young people have access to the opportunities, support, and knowledge they need to pursue careers they may not have considered before.

Thank you to the school staff and most importantly the students at both campuses for welcoming us so warmly. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

Did you know that TSA operates one of the only floating cranes in Australia?

Back in 2021, we welcomed the TSA Skardon - a Damen 6324 dry bulk transhipment barge with a Maritime Cranes CBG 350 crane, designed to enhance the efficiency and flexibility of our operations.

At the Skardon River project, once barges are loaded, they are towed offshore to the TSA Skardon, where the crane transfers bauxite onto ocean-going vessels bound for their final destination.

But its capability doesn’t stop there. The TSA Skardon can also be configured with a container spreader or hook, allowing it to handle a wide range of cargo beyond dry bulk. With the capacity to service vessels up to Panamax and Capesize, it plays a critical role in supporting efficient offshore transhipment.

We're excited to start sharing the winning shots from our annual employee calendar competition - photos captured by our own crew that reflect day-to-day life and operations across TSA.

This month's photo, captured by Dan Hill, features TSA Brizo and Profit Reliance approaching the TSA Skardon with a loaded barge - a key moment in our operations at the Metro Mining Bauxite Hills project.

The shot shows one of the core steps in our transhipment cycle: moving material approximately 20 nautical miles offshore from the loading facility in a controlled tow, before carefully lining the barge up with the transhipper to keep the operation flowing.

A cycle repeated multiple times a day by our crew, and every safe delivery is worth acknowledging.
