This 30hp Tohatsu blew a head gasket while under way.
Unfortunately had a bolt snap during removal which then had to be drilled out and helicoiled.
Stainless bolts into alloy cast, never a fun job... got it sorted and back on the crddk

Mercury released this grey fuel line with red writing on it some years ago. The fuel line has an internal tubing which has broken down over the years. It clogs up fuel systems and restricts fuel flow. This would have cost consumers millions of dollars over the years in repairs.
The fuel line has since been replaced with a similar fuel line which has blue writing on the side and believe it or not... it still has the internal lining on it. Though a s this new batch is young in its life cycle doesnt seem to be common place to see it fail in this manner.

Dreamed of buying a boat? Prepurchase inspections are the way to go. On this suzuki we can see how many times the oil change has been logged and even the time duration spent at different rpm's.

The humble boat trailer wheel bearing. We depend on these suckers yet never pay them much attention. Worth a check leading into summer. Some fine examples here....

This 30hp mercury had no compression in top cylinder due to a leaking head gasket. Four head bolts snapped and had to be drilled out and heli coils inserted. Painful exercise.
