***This forecast is no longer valid and was further downgraded on Friday!*** 8AM FRIDAY SEQLD FORECAST UPDATE - SE COAST RAINFALL TOTALS DOWNGRADED > Reading is important >
Overnight and early this morning the ECMWF forecast model (the most accurate in the world) has updated with the most recent run reducing the next 3 day rainfall totals along the South East Coast district by about half. That is great news if it stays that way because the last thing we want or need after being so dry for so long is bad flooding - there is also good flooding if it does't do damage. There is still up to 250mm possible in the next few days though for some places circled in WHITE...

Below is the higher resolution forecast model Access C which only goes out until 10pm on Saturday ATM - that is ok it gives us better look at rainfall forecast total situation until then.

A small scale low and trough is located between the Gold Coast and Brisbane right now moving north. It is producing moderate to locally heavy rain across the GC which will also spread north into Brisbane and possibly the Sunshine Coast during the day and tonight. Burleigh has already had 100mm.
IF this low / trough stalls and gets stuck and stops or becomes slow moving then heavy rain trains over the same areas are a high risk. It is these areas that could get 250mm with flash flooding and this model data is showing that potential. (The EC model had just been going WAY harder up to 500mm).

Most of the South East Coast, Darling Downs & Granite Belt, Maranoa & Warrego districts are still forecast for GOOD rainfall of 50-100mm between today & tomorrow. Sunday also has scattered showers and rain areas continuing.
Hopefully people can actually handle the fact that weather forecasts and forecast data CHANGES, our job is to try and select the most likely result then pass it onto you.

Remember there is no need to run, rain is not acid so don't fall over and get a wet dirty ar$e lol.
