As part of our airport duties, we are often called upon to remove wildlife from inside the fence line. On Monday morning while conducting our inspection we found a micro bat on the apron. As we didn't want to leave it on the apron to be run over, we simply picked it up to put it in the grass as it was obviously dead.
To our surprise it moved, just a tiny bit but it did move. Then we saw the rest of them, 7 in total. The cold and wet must have knocked them out of their nest. After checking them all out we found that 3 were in fact dead but 4 were still alive but just. The were so cold, so wet and honestly didn't think they had a chance.
We tried to dry them with some paper towel then put then in a bag in the foot well of the inspection vehicle with the heater on. Completed our inspection and then parked the vehicle in our new yard and left it running with the heat on for an hour.
To our surprise when we checked again, they were still cold but not as wet and had move activity.

Long story short all 4 have survived and were released this afternoon near the location they were found.

The bats to our knowledge are coastal sheath-tailed bat (Taphozous australis), or coastal tomb bat, is a species of sheath-tailed bat in the family Emballonuridae. It is found in Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Requirements
• Be able to pass random drug and alcohol testing
• Currently hold or able to obtain a minimum of a HR license, with the option to upgrade to a MC licence after 12 mths resulting in optional work with another business.
• Currently hold or be able to pass a federal police check and obtain Airside Permit (ASIC CARD)
• Currently hold or be able to obtain a DG license
• Be customer service focused with attention to detail
• Work some weekends and on call roster when needed
What we offer
• Permanent Part-Time position with a minimum 30 hours per week (with the chance for a full-time position for the right candidate.
• Full comprehensive training in all aspects of the business.
• Cover all cost related to obtaining the qualifications needed to complete the role.
• A varied position with ongoing nationally recognised training.

Why not come visit the Gulf and get a photo with the biggest Crocodile ever shot.

Krystyna 'Krys' Pawlowski had been crocodile hunting for two years when she shot the 8.6-metre monster in 1957 on the McCarther Bank in the Norman River, Queensland.

Hunters had tried to get this croc for decades and were astounded that a 'lady' did what no man could.

That shot would make the family famous because at 8.6 metres, the reptile was, and still is, the biggest ever killed or captured in Australia.

Krys's famous croc-hunting career started in 1955 in Kaumba, in Queensland's Gulf Country when a 12-foot reptile started creeping up on her three-year-old daughter, Barbara.
