IPUT Technologies

IPUT Technologies iPUT technologies deliver innovative turnkey projects and mining operational support services. www.iput.au/dozer

Materials handling and process upgrades in coal, iron ore and mineral sands, including high throughput self-driven dozer trap mining units. Project work undertaken includes coal preparation plant modification and upgrades, reclaim and stacker systems, dozer traps, truck & rail loading / receival systems, yard and overland conveyors, loop take-ups, bins & hoppers, ore receival & crushing, feed sys

tems, sizing systems, mining development, general infrastructure, grain silo conveyors, etc. Work performed has included extensive experience with conveyors and general mining equipment. Full materials handling maintenance and management contract services have also been provided very successfully. Autonomous maintenance management of select or complete materials handling and beneficiation / processing systems can be offered to reduce overall operating and whole of life costs. In 2013 iPUT commenced an innovative business development growth phase to implement iPUT's beneficiation plant step change throughput increase technology in coal and mineral sands, also applicable to a range of other minerals; In mid 2014 iPUT also commenced development of clean coal technology applications and implementation models, see www.iput.au/lac. A full scale implementation of our throughput increasing technology was installed at a major Bowen Basin Qld coal mine in 2016 and this proof-of-concept installation has since indisputably proven the success of the technology to underpin throughput / ash reduction upgrades. In 2017 a fully mobile dozer trap application for the high throughput technology was developed, able to mine at rates up to 2,000t/hr in one configuration, or 3,500t/hr in another. In 2021, the sustained R&D effort, including substantial operational feedback from multiple sources keen to see industry benchmarks lifted with a machine like this, finally brought this machine to market.

"Scope 3 emissions" - where all the biggest savings are to be made, but nobody's looking! Two weeks ago we started the conversation at www.iput.au/lac, have since submitted a "Coal Harm Minimisation" Method to the Dept of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water, and contemplating ways to achieve real action on this low-hanging-fruit option.

Whilst we need the Uni (www.newcastle.edu.au/research/centre/nier) to validate it, the evidence thus far says that just doing harm minimisation on coal is Australia's entire 2030 reduction commitment met, so everything else is a bonus. We have the opportunity to go into gross-overperformance mode here, but we need just a little govt support to kick it off ($M10) and engage on appropriate legislative guardrails.

Many of us have been very happy to take the wins of coal, being the cheap natural organic energy and steelmaking resource that has massively uplifted the quality of life for billions of human beings on the planet. And is still being used extensively by 'first world' nations, with the many more that

Had a very useful meeting in Sydney yesterday with Mr Sen, Managing Director of the highly reputed International Combustion (India) Ltd, visiting Australia as part of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce delegation. A great beginning to a potential long term relationship, with both parties genuinely eager to explore opportunities further. So nice to meet a fellow mechanical engineer who is as well grounded in engineering process competence as he is in the commercial realities of running a large international company. A very ‘switched on’ individual, who sees opportunity everywhere. Bring it on!😀

For those that miss / wish to reflect on the passing of founding director Phil Caldwell, a memorial page has been put up here: https://www.iput.com.au/phil/.
One thing people have universally said since his passing is that they do not know, and never have known, a person remotely like Phil, with his unique blend of personal and technical skills. So true!

We will forever respect, honour, uphold and continue the mindset of this inspirational man, Phil Caldwell, in our culture going forwards.
