Looking forward to next week!
Hope all our workers and friends stay safe and have a good close-down
Once again we will have multiple teams grinding turnouts. Our traffic officers will be out on different track machines and of course our level crossing manager will be helping ARTC

This week around 1,200 of us will be working around the clock to complete more than 440 different maintenance jobs across the network – and safety will be our top priority.

The works will prioritise track reconditioning to improve reliability and safety, and enable trains to continue to travel the network at higher speeds.

Works will take place from Newcastle to Ulan and Narrabri, from Tuesday 9 February until Friday 12 February.

We’d like to thank the community for their patience while we carry out this essential maintenance.

Derryville kicked off the new year this week with a corridor clean-up featuring our new 8 tonne excavator in Newcastle. We collect all the old timber sleepers and plates. We strip them apart and recycle the steel and sell the usable timber.
The timber will be reused in projects from fencing, furniture, garden beds and even feature beams and posts in housing.

This week Derryville Rail Services participated in the Hunter shutdown from Newcastle to turrawan and out to Ulan
We had 3 grinding teams out doing various turnouts throughout the area
We had several traffic officers on track machines making sure they navigate other worksites safely
We also had our level crossing manager in charge of 8 teams on behalf of ARTC. Great job done by all our staff, looking forward to the February closedown and do it all again.
