Turns out, quite a lot!
🦅 Pelicans, cormorants, galahs, ducks, brolgas and more
🐊 Maybe even one of our resident freshies
🦘 Wallabies and kangaroos along the shoreline
🦚 The local peacocks strutting their stuff near the picnic grounds

Well... there's definitely no turning back now. WE'RE OFFICIALLY OPEN!

What started with one conversation, one big idea and a fair amount of “surely we can make this happen” has officially become Moondarra Cruises.

On Friday we proudly launched Mount Isa's newest tourism experience on beautiful Lake Moondarra, with Bob Katter doing the honours and cutting the ribbon.

Getting here has taken plenty of paperwork, approvals, problem-solving, early mornings, late nights... and thankfully, not too many people saying NO. Kylie doesn't particularly like that word anyway!

But more than anything, it's taken an incredible community of people who believed in the idea and helped make it happen.

A huge thank you to Mount Isa Water Board, Outback Pioneers, Glencore Queensland Metals, Bob Katter, Robbie Katter MP, Mount Isa City Council, Bell & Moir Toyota, Grants Cakes & Pies, Judy & Trevor Harris (mum & dad), Joanna Giemza-Meehan - Lifestyle Photographer our fabulous photographer and Susan Maynard.

Meet the captains of controlled chaos... Kylie and Brett!

If you've been living under a rock, let us introduce ourselves!

Kylie has spent more than 25 years flying the flag for Mount Isa tourism, while Brett, a former local mine worker, keeps everything running smoothly when he's home from FIFO.

Together, they've poured plenty of passion (and a fair bit of hard work!) into creating Mount Isa's newest tourism experience.

The countdown is on... and we can't wait to show you Lake Moondarra through our eyes. Stay tuned!

Every great adventure starts with a journey... and this one was unforgettable!

From the Thomson River in Longreach to Lake Moondarra in Mount Isa, The Thomson Princess travelled hundreds of kilometres to begin her exciting new chapter.

This simply wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of so many people.

💙 To the entire Kinnon family from Outback Pioneers, thank you for believing in this dream and giving The Thomson Princess a new home.

🚛 A huge thank you to Ian Parr Transport for safely delivering her across Outback Queensland.

🌊 And to the Mount Isa Water Board, thank you for having everything ready at Lake Moondarra to welcome her home.

It truly takes a community to create something special and we couldn't be more grateful.

Now... who's ready to make some memories on the water?

You know it's getting real when it makes the news!

Moondarra Cruises is creating plenty of waves, with media across Queensland helping spread the word about Mount Isa's newest tourism experience.

A huge thank you to Kath Rose and this example from the Townsville Bulletin for sharing the story and helping put Lake Moondarra on more travellers' radar.

The excitement is building... and it won't be long until guests are stepping aboard. Watch this space!

She's floating... and she's almost ready for you!

Mount Isa's newest tourism experience has officially hit the water!

Moondarra Cruises has completed her first test cruise on beautiful Lake Moondarra and it won't be long before guests step aboard.

A huge shout out to Richard and Marise Kinnon from Outback Pioneers for leasing The Thomson Princess and helping bring this exciting new experience to life. It also wouldn't have been possible without the incredible support of the Mount Isa Water Board, Mount Isa City Council, Glencore Queensland Metals and Bell & Moir Toyota.

This is Outback Queensland at its best. Locals backing locals to create something truly special.
