Join us for a relaxing and enjoyable day out at the 25th Biennale of Sydney: ‘Rememory’ at Campbelltown Arts Centre. Explore striking contemporary artworks from Australia and around the world, then unwind with morning tea or lunch at the beautiful café overlooking the gardens.

Sometimes the weather is diabolical… but the company makes everything brighter 💙

Today’s visit to Retford Park proved that a little wild weather can’t stop a great outing.

Rain, wind, muddy shoes… and still one of the best days out we’ve had in ages! ☔🌿✨

As National Volunteer Week comes to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to every volunteer who gives their time, care and energy to St George Community 💛

This week we shared just a few of the many stories behind the people who help keep our community connected every day.

From driving buses and supporting clients on outings, to helping in the office and quietly working behind the scenes, every volunteer plays an important role.

To all of our volunteers, thank you for the kindness, humour, patience and support you bring to St George Community each and every week. We truly could not do it without you.

For more than 20 years, Viv has been a familiar and welcoming part of St George Community 💛

Over two decades of volunteering, she has quietly supported the organisation in countless ways, helping both staff and clients while becoming a much-loved part of the St George Community family.

Like so many volunteers, Viv’s contribution often happens quietly in the background, but her long-standing commitment has helped make a real difference over many years.

At 88 years old, Bert is still turning up each week to help out at St George Community 💛

A familiar and well-loved face around the depot for many years, Bert has spent decades quietly contributing wherever he’s needed, from helping around the yard to driving buses, including one that once carried his name.

Originally from Northern Ireland, Bert moved to Sydney with his wife Elizabeth in the 1970s and has remained part of the St George Community family ever since.

His story is a reminder that volunteering has no age limit, and that every contribution, no matter how big or small, helps keep a community strong.

We especially loved revisiting this wonderful old photo of Bert with the bus that once bore his name.

At 88, Bert is still showing up each week, still helping out and still giving back to the community he has been part of for so many years.

Not all volunteers work directly with clients.

Each week, Derrick volunteers behind the scenes helping support important IT, records and compliance projects that help keep St George Community running smoothly 💻

With experience across local, state and federal government, Derrick brings valuable knowledge and skills to the organisation, quietly supporting the systems that help staff, volunteers and clients every day.

His story is a reminder that volunteering comes in many different forms.

While many volunteers work directly with clients, Derrick supports St George Community quietly behind the scenes.

For Christine, volunteering is all about helping people stay connected, included and enjoying themselves 💛

From lunches and concerts to day trips and social outings, Christine helps clients feel supported while building friendships and connection along the way.

“A lot of them wouldn’t get out at all if it wasn’t for these outings,” she says.

It’s the simple moments, sharing a laugh over morning tea or helping someone feel confident and included, that keep her coming back each week.

When Nerine first started volunteering with St George Community, she spent one day a week helping in the office.

Today, she supports clients on social outings and overnight trips across NSW after taking on additional training and responsibilities along the way 💛

Her volunteer journey has grown alongside her confidence, and she says the experience has become a major part of her happiness and wellbeing.

“If I didn’t have volunteering, I don’t know what I’d be doing,” she says.
