THE GIAU PASS - Passo di Giau … is a high mountain pass in the Mesmerising Dolomites in the province of Belluno in Italy. It connects Cortina d’Ampezzo with Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore. It is located at the centre of a vast mountain pasture at the foot of Nuvolau (2,574 m) and dell’Averau (2,647 m) from which you can easily reach Monte Pore. Impressive is the view west towards Colle Santa Lucia, Marmolada, north to Ra Gisela, and just to the east towards the valley of Cortina d’Ampezzo.

The road is narrow, steep, and often busy with tourists, cyclists, motorcycles, and sports cars, primarily serving as a scenic, challenging passage between Bormio and Prad am Stilfser Joch …

TIMMELSJOCH - is a high mountain pass - 2,474 metres - that creates a link through the Otztal Alps along the border between Austria and Italy. The Timmelsjoch connects the Otztal valley in the Austrian state of Tyrol , as it bridges the saddle point between the Jochkopfl and Wurmkogl peaks to its northeast and southwest, respectively. The pass is sometimes called the “secret passage” because it is little-used compared to the much easier and lower Brenner Pass some 25 Km to its east, and Reschen Pass some 60 km to its west …

FURKA Pass … a high mountain pass in the southern Swiss Alps connecting Gletsch, Valais with Realp, Uri via the seasonal Furkapassroute. The Furka Pass was used as a location in the James Bond film ‘Goldfinger’, a curve of which is marked as ‘James Bond Strasse’, complete with lookout point and small parking area. Near the wester summit of the pass is the Hotel Belvedere; a short walk from it leads to the Rhone Glacier ice Grotto.

It is part of the larger Glockner Group of the Hohe Tauern range, situated along the main ridge of the Central Eastern Alps and the Alpine divide. The Pasterze, Austria’s most extended glacier, lies on the Grossglockner’s eastern slope.
